One day my laptop turned off, since I don't use it too often I thought it was cause it's dead so I plugged it in and went to work when I come back it's still dead I checked the charger and nothing was wrong the charger didn't seem to be broken I left it resting for a few days. Mind you this happened to me once before. But after a few days it still didn't turn on now I'm worried because it's been 2 weeks and nothing I'll leave it charging a whole day try and nothing

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E330: Green and purple screen when lifting the laptop?

One year old Lenovo thinkpad edge E330 that has been used to program in .net and browsing. had first time problem with this laptop Wednesday 4th of march 2015, when I tilted the laptop which i had in my knee the screen turned green/ purple and was all pixalated into blurring colors. Could not see the screen except the blurred green-purple fizz and could not shut down laptop with the start button by pressing it. Pulled the battery out and restarted it on a flat surface. re installed the OS same day.

Laptop seem to be working fine for another day and then just now I took the laptop on my knee again (lifting while on) and the screen turns green-purple and pixalated again.

Pulled battery out to restart and once on again I actually saw my old start background picture which I had before re installing the OS yesterday!

Because I saw the old picture before the computer changed back to my new background picture it made think that it must be a hardware fault.

It works well when placed on a flat surface like a table, but not when tilted which is a sign of something like a cable that is slipping then and then.

What do you think?

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E530: screen won't light up

Laptop worked this am, but when I did a shutdown it took about 10 mins. Then tried to boot later and no display would light up.

I tried all the solutions on the web I could find:

Took out battery, tried powering up with just ac cable, no good.

Tried powering up without ac cable, no good.

Tried holding down power button for 30 secs. plugging in only ac cable, no good.

Put battery back in and ac cable in, no good.

Reseated the RAM (and blew out a lot of dust that was on the fan), still no good.

Is it the motherboard? graphics card? Any help appreciated

Lenovo thinkpad e460: Will my laptop be ok after water spillage?

Hi all!

So after getting out of the shower and going to my room I stupidly leant across my laptop to get some clothes and about 5 drops of water from my hair went on the keyboard of my lenovo e460 laptop, which I didn't notice until about 10 minutes later when I wiped it off and tried to use my keyboard. Cue keys not working and me turning my laptop off and putting it upside down. I left it for two hours and tried booting it up again which was all fine, started typing the alphabet all keys are working again for about five minutes before it begins to freak out, keys not working or not typing anything but a bunch of random letters show up. So Ive turned it off again and left it upside down as I realised it probably wasnt enough time to dry but my question is because the keys worked fine for a bit, do you think my laptop will be ok when it properly dries and how long should I leave it for?

Thanks a heap!

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E550: Not working USB on thinkpad e550

Hi. I have a Thinkpad E550 and USB port on the right side (next to DC in) is not working. I checked with USB load that it provides 5V, 1A. I tried Lenovo diagnostics in BIOS and it doesn't detect USB mass storage device. I disassembled the computer and checked for cold solder joints on the USB, they were OK (verified with multimeter). The USB port in question is on a small daughter board. Thinkpad e550 parts, part number: 00HT632

I replaced the flat flex cable and it didn't help. I'm wondering if I should replace the daughter board. Since it's expensive, before I order one I would like to ask if somebody has access to schematic of that daughter board and can verify if there's some circuitry on the board that can cause the USB data communication to fail.

On this machine is installed linux mint. Here is "lsusb -v" output

Thanks a lot!

ThinkPad Edge E31: Power tip is bent

What type USB-c cable can I use to replace a bent tip on my charger.

I have a Thinkpad which was pulled off the couch by my cat. Stop laughing. The tip of the USB-C power cord bent when it fell onto the floor. I was able to bend it enough to have it work, but I would like to replace the tip. I am not scared of soldering, etc. but I want to make sure I use a good tip. I was thinking of buying a good quality USB-C cable and cutting it and matching up the wires. Before I strip or cut the end off and examine the wires etc, I was hoping to get some feedback. Any suggestions?
