Lenovo ThinkPad 410: Laptop Completely Dead Won't Power On At All

I’m in possession of a Lenovo ThinkPad T-410 that I got from my old job of about 4 years ago. It USED to power on and work just fine. Now?…even with the power adapter plugged into it, it just does nothing. No power, no lights whatsoever. What could be the problem? I already tried the “Remove-Battery-And-Hold-Down-Power-Button” routine with negative results. Is there someplace I can ship it to have it looked at? I mean its not a critical issue, but its got sentimental value to me, and I wouldn’t mind giving it a second life as a backup.

Lenovo ThinkPad 410: External Monitor Screen Flickering

Hi

I have a Lenovo Think Pad T410.

When I connect the laptop to an external monitor through a VGA cable, when you open a gray picture or a software with gray background, you will notice a huge noise on the screen, there are many websites that suggesting, this is all about ground loop, and you must cut the ground wire somehow, but the monitor power cable doesn't have any ground connection at all,and the charger ground pin,is not connect to the outlet.

So what is the problem exactly?

What is the solution?

Lenovo ThinkPad 410: ThinkPad T410 - 255% battery available on Ac, and "Unknown remaining"

Hi,

A day ago I opened my t410 to clean the fan and the laptop, and just out of curiosity i took the yellow power jack out and found that it has a broken red wire, i thought i had accidently broken the wire so i soldered it back and after i booted it the windows battery indicator was showing "255% available"(when plugged in) and "unknown available" (when on battery), when i hover over it and when i click on it the battery gauge is always at 100%. The vantage toolbar is also giving an "battery voltage incorrect" error but keeps loading when i open battery details. I read on an ifixit forum to check the 3 small charging pins which should have +3.3v each, these are right next to the bigger negative(-) pins, and found that the middle pin has no voltage.

So,

Have I blown a fuse and is it replaceable? or have i shorted something and will have to trouble shoot using a multimeter and use Jumper wires?

Edit:- After a few years, on someday in dec, 22 the battery started getting charged, and i was able to use the laptop on battery, for some days at least. As recently the battery has again stopped working/ charging, but this time the middle pin is providing a voltage of 1V up from zero (or maybe more, my meter is not much accurate 🤷🏻‍♂️)

Lenovo ThinkPad 410: Hard drive caddy really required? Best OS for stock?

I have no clue if the caddy is important. I have a 240GB Kingston SSD installed, and it seems to sit well with the cardboard support I put on it. Do I need the caddy to keep it better in place? (Trying to be as cheap as possible)

Also what’s the best OS you guys would suggest? It’s an Intel i5 (520M or 540M, I have no clue which) with 4GB RAM. I suppose I could upgrade, but like I said before, cheap as possible.

Lenovo ThinkPad 410: Laptop to desktop project

I've got a lenovo thinkpad t410 with a serious overheating problem. I'd like to turn it into a custom desktop for a fun project. Instead of using the included fan, I want to use a large aluminum heat sink from an old desktop, with another fan directed up through it. However, the thinkpad will shut down without the original fan and heat sink in it's proper place. Does anyone know of a way to disable this function to allow me to proceed with this project?
