Lenovo S21e-20: Keyboard doesn't respond after pressing Caps Lock.

Keyboard works normally until pressing the Caps Lock button. Hitting Caps Lock will make the keyboard unresponsive, you won't be able to type anything after. Can't even open up on-screen keyboard to turn off Caps Lock since it (on-screen keyboard) will hang on startup. Right now, it looks like restarting is the only way to bring back the keyboard.

Really confused what the problem is. And my Google searches aren't pulling up this specific problem.

I should add that ONE key does respond after pressing the Caps Lock key: the Fn or Function key types the number one (1.) Aside from that, nothing else works.

And it looks like opening the on-screen keyboard and turning on Caps Lock on it works normally. No keyboard hangups. No issues with turning on/off Caps Lock.

Problem is when Caps Lock key is actually turned ON using the keyboard. That's when everything stops responding. Even the on-screen keyboard stops responding though it's working beforehand.

Update (08/19/2020)

It looks like there are other people who run into the same problem. For the newcomers (welcome to the club) and for the sake of visibility, here are possible solutions compiled from other messages in this thread:

A. Disable the Caps Lock key using a reputable keyboard software found online.

B. Disconnect all keyboard connections (and maybe all other connections as well) and put it back together.

C. Replace the laptop keyboard.

As I am inexperienced in opening up laptops, I went with option A. But I would suggest option B if you know how to. Another user has experienced the same problem and reconnecting all the, well, connections is what solved it for him.

Good luck!

Lenovo S21e-20: How to upgrade RAM, harddrive or chance battery for Lenovo S21e-20?

Hello ladies & gentlenerds,

I bought my Lenovo S21e-20 because, among other things, it features non-glare display and was very affordable. I later found out, that it is not designed to be upgraded ever with additional ram or a bigger hard drive. I know, on this price level one cannot expect a device, which is easy to upgrade. But still, I want to try this.

There is no service opening but you can remove the keyboard by removing the srews on the bottom of the casing and then it is possible to remove the screws underneath the keyboard. I did this in order to open the casing but I could not open it completly without using force. There seemed to be clamps on the backside next to the screen, but I could not rech them. So I was not able to see, wether or not the RAM and harddrive is soldered or removable but I could identify the battery, which is L14M4P22 and seemed to be removable. This battery model can be ordered online, so assume, there must be a way to open the casing (unlesss this battery is used for other easier to service lenovo models as well, which I doupt.)

So to anybody who found out how to upgrade this thing, please help me. It would be so good to do the impossible. Tank you.
