Lenovo G50-70: G50-70 takes as long as 24h to boot

Hi!

The laptop won't boot until after as long as 24h. Boot time as gone lengthier and lengthier with time, to this extreme. From instant boot, to 5, 10, 20 minutes, to an hour to a day now. I seldom turn it off but I sometimes have to and I am afraid it is again going to get worse.

It's a pity because that machine is still kicking and wouldn't it be for that issue, I wouldn't think of getting a replacement.

Not sure if booting is the right word. It does not even get the manufacturer's splash screen. While it's waiting, white lines are flashing on the screen that you can barely see because the screen is not lit.

If you try to plug in the charger at that moment it makes a loud Beeeeeep ! I have tried to use the Lenovo PC Diagnostics app to listen to beep and get the error code but the app is either broken or only works for Thinkpads.

Someone on the internet suggested that it was a Power On Self Test (POST) issue, that is, IIUC, a hardware issue. But the SSD is new and the problem remains even with the battery off. Tried with different RAM sticks. Same.h

I thought this my be a problem with the CMOS battery but I measured its voltage with a voltmeter and I get a 3.2 volts measurement with seems normal (although I am not sure)

I found this where someone suggested a BIOS problem with a key or something I am not sure how to flash the BIOS:

https://hulifox008.github.io/2018/07/21/...

I wish there was a more detailed walkthrough of what to buy and what to do... Also I am not sure that would fix the problem.

I am running Linux but I don't think that's the issue because the problem arises before linux even kicks in.

To conclude :

It gets worse with time

Not a HDD/SSD issue (brand new, no SMART errors)

Not a laptop battery issue

Not a RAM issue

CMOS seems fine but I am not sure

Maybe a BIOS issue ?

Any ideas ? Would really love to keep using that otherwise perfect machine

Lenovo G50-70: Blue screen error code 0xc0000034

Hello!

Please could someone help me. 🙏🏻

My old Lenovo G50-70 has just presented me with the blue screen of death: error code 0xc0000034.

At the time, I was looking at a saved word document, the screen became pale and at the top it said that Word was not responding. I could not escape this frozen screen, so I powered off.

Upon powering up, the lovely blue screen of death appeared.

Following YouTube advice, I have tried powering up and off 3 times. Nope, doesn't work.

I have tried powering up whilst holding the F8 key continually. Nope.

Same with F11 key. Nope.

I think I have Windows 8. I know, I know, ancient.

Look, the problem is that I have lots of saved files that I need on this laptop. I do have a new laptop, an Asus Vivobook, and I was about to transfer files from Lenovo to Asus, when this disaster struck!

I am a yoga teacher, I am not technically savvy with computer systems.

Please, please, could someone help me. I just need it to work long enough for me to transfer my saved files and class photos etc., on to my new Asus.

Please. 🙏🏻

I have a G50-70 modelname 20351 .

When I try to turn it on I can see a kind of a glare on the screen, but it won’t turn on.

the battery is charging just fine as it is new.

before this, Microsoft TechSupport did a Windows 10 Reset since I was having issues with the CPU always throteling at 100% due to a System Interrupt process, the reset didn’t solved the system interrupt and after a week I I was using it fine, but then I tryed to turn it on but nothing… it looks like a CPU fail.

I used this PC only for drawing in Fusion360, Photoshop and Illustrator, and some Gaming on Steam.

Is there any way to revive it? how can I know the reason of failure?
