LG G7 ThinQ Battery

After installing the battery, everything appeared to be fine. It came up as 60% charge, and I followed the instruction on the box to "Charge your newly installed battery up to 100% and keep charging it for at least 2 more hours. Then use your device [...]". Charging went fine, and after waiting the device powered up just fine.

The next instruction reads "Then use your device until it shuts off due to low battery." I set up a youtube playlist to play overnight. The phone was shut off in the morning.

However, plugging the charging cable back in only gave the vibration motor buzz and a 'grey' screen, with no indication of it being charged. I left it for several hours, but there was no change. Turning it off (only possible when unplugged) and back on again provides no change. Every once in a while I see what appears to be the beginning of the LG G7 ThinQ's charge indicator circle only for it to go back to a 'grey' screen.

( When I say 'grey' screen - it might well be black, with just the backlight bleed. )

Replacing the iFixit battery with the original battery again, the battery starts charging and the battery charge indicator appears as normal (just takes a very long time to charge).

Swapping it back out for the iFixit battery gets me back to only a 'grey' screen.

Did the instruction to let it drain cause the battery charge to be so low that the device is refusing to charge it?

I'm thinking of starting a replacement / refund procedure, but want to make sure I'm not missing some other step I could take.

( If anyone were to suggest factory reset: though I'd much prefer not to have to perform a factory reset regardless, Vol- + Power also does nothing with the replacement battery in place, whether on charger or not. Have not yet attempted with the original battery in place. )

When i woke up the phone was dead. It had drained overnight. I then plugged it in and charged it for several hours and it would not charge or even turn on.

When i try to charge it, nothing happens, nothing shows up on the screen. The red LED doesn't even light up. I tried the power + vol down. it didn't work. wireless charging doesn't work either. Nothing happens when i plug it into my pc.

Should i replace the battery? What should i do?

If I try to take a photo or video with my Phone a notification pops up saying <<the photo app has stopped>> or <<the photo app is not working properly>>. And when I switch to video call my camera image flips over in case it takes by chance. What should I do?

I’d like to get the One’s glass solely for that neat iridescent effect it had, but it looks like the ThinQ stuff would fit with just an extra clear spot where the sensors would be on the ThinQ.

Everything works well except for the proximity sensor, which always shows NEAR or INIT in the Service Menu - Auto Test. I think when it shows init it’s a contact problem as also the light sensor doesn’t seem to work.

I tried cleaning the screen where the sensor is and removing the protective film, but it always shows NEAR.

Any suggestions? Is the sensor defective? If so, I still have the one from the old phone, but it seems embedded between the screen and frame and wouldn’t want to pry apart the screen from the frame.

Is it USB board hardware problem, or is it the phone mainboard problem?

• refuses to connect to both wifi and cellular networks. When i go into settings, the phone has no MAC or IMEI numbers.
• will not run for more than a minute or two before freezing and rebooting. I did get it to run for over 20 minutes straight once while running the LG backup app. Setting the phone on an ice pack seemed to help.

I have tried everything to fix this issue, including a full factory reset. I am wondering if this may be some kind of hardware failure? The only thing i can think of is i took it to the beach last weekend. I did briefly run the phone under a very light trickle of water to remove sand from the screen without scratching it. The phone is supposed to be waterproof though and it ran for over 3 days totally fine after i did that. Does anyone have any repair ideas?

I have recently dropped my LG G7 Thinq in a shallow lake, and the phone got waterdamaged. I did try to dry it out but when it asked me to be charged i think i tosted the display. It went black, without a lifesign on it. I found about <2 drops of water in it and i think it came trough the simcard slot. No water what i can recall downwards near the LCD connector.

I ordered a new LCD/digitizer/frame on ebay, and replaced it succefully some days ago. Now the phone is working, but the background light isnt. Also the volume up isnt working yet. But trough vysor everything works as normal.

I have tried to clean off some minor dirt from the motherboard so now it looks good and fine. I will do it even better with IPA and a microscope in my office soon.

But now. the main question is. Is the mothermoard toasted, or did i buy a faulty screen from ebay? I want to measure it and find out, but i have no knowledge in where to measure, and for what. It is a bit annoying that everything works fine except this.

If im not mistaken the LCD connector has 54 main pins + probably 2 on each side.

Can i measure the motherboard some other way, that would also be nice to know about. All feedback is appreciated!
