LG G5: Repairing & cleaning a water damaged LG G5 (Backlight not working)

Hello!

I recently left my phone in the pouring rain for about 10-15 minutes (long story, i'm an idiot basically) and now I'm left with a dead back light. After sitting in rice for about 3-4 days, everything was working perfectly other than the "auto" brightness option (it would just stay on whatever setting I left it at). But recently my back light decided to give up completely and I'm only able to /barely/ read my phone by shining a flashlight on it. As far as I can tell, everything else seems to be working fine!

It's been a little over two weeks since the incident (backlight stopped working 3 days ago) and I KNOW I shouldn't have waited this long to take apart my phone, but I was terrified to do it until now~

Here are some pictures of the water damage:

If it isn't obvious, I don't have a whole lot of an idea of what on earth i'm doing, but i'm assuming this blob (corrosion?) is part of the issue)

I can also unscrew the logic board if needed (:

So my question is -- Are there any areas that I need to NOT get isopropyl alchohol on? I know I need to use something stronger than 90% so I'll have to go search for that :p

And after cleaning everything, do you think if I replace the LCD screen WITH the frame attached, it will fix my backlight issue?

Thank you for any help!!

LG G5: Proximity Sensor after screen replacement

Hello!

I just had my LG G5's screen replaced after it got cracked. However, now as soon as I dial a call, the screen goes black (locks itself). Similarly, if I am making a call on whatsapp, as soon as I dial the call the Whatsapp screen locks itself!

I understand that this might have something to do with a proximity sensor? The person who repaired the screen for me has no idea about how to fix this unfortunately so I am a bit stuck here.

Anyone else faced similar issues? I have tried resetting the phone as well as calibrating the sensors.

Would appreciate some assistance.

LG G5: Phone keeps vibrating repeatedly when plugged in. (LG G5)

I recently purchased a phone lot off of eBay just for fun, and I wanted to test it for myself. When I plug it in (with a USB-C cable), it repeatedly vibrates. The vibration patterns change whenever I unplug it and plug it back in for some reason. Is there any explanation for this behavior?

Clarification Edit: When I plug in the phone, the LCD’s backlight should light up displaying the charging symbol, but it doesn’t appear to do that. Instead, the phone vibrates at random intervals. However, when I hold down the power button, the vibrating stops.

LG G5: Phone died due to empty battery, after restart the battery is full.

Hello. My barely used G5 after full charge keeps discharging really fast(like 100% to 1% in 20 minutes) but after boot up the phone shows its real battery percentage (like 75% after first cycle) this continues on and on rendering the phone unusable. Here you can see an graph of battery usage, the phone wasnt connected to a charger during this testing period.I used an app to measure the battery voltage and the phone reads like 4.1 V at the first power off.(It shows like 4129.3V but it is bugged somehow it probbably reads x1000) So it is unlikely that this is caused by the battery(i tried two of them, the same thing happens)Have anybodey seen this before? Im thinking of instaling some custom os because this looks like software bug( i already instaled newest android updates). If you know how to fix this i woud be glad for any reply.

LG G5: Rear-facing camera won't focus

The rear-facing 16MP camera (not the wide angle) will no longer focus. I've tried all the usual software fixes (factory reset, etc.). I can actually hear a mechanism inside the phone "trying" to focus, but it seems to be locked into the nearest focal point.

Before I send this thing back for warranty replacement (which involves fixing an old, busted LG G3 first so I'm not without a phone for two weeks), does anyone have a suggestion about how to fix it? I'm not particularly inclined to disassemble the G5, but I thought I'd at least check to see if anyone else has run into this problem.

LG G5: Is it possible to replace a contact spring on Motherboard?

Hi:

I received an LG G5 model VS987 phone. It was reported the power button did not function but on closer inspection I found 3 contact springs on the motherboard that are broken- these connect with the power button on the back panel. I have safely removed the 3 broken contact springs, and removed three good ones from another motherboard for replacements. But, how can I safely solder the new contacts to the good motherboard? Anyone done this already?

Thanks!
