i turn phone on and the event logo comes on then the virgin mobile screen comes on then it goes black and then back to the event logo it loops over and over but never goes to the main start up screen

Kyocera Event: Why is my Kyocera Event charging light flashing?

I'm trying to get into my old Event which I thought was broken. I plugged it into my laptop but instead of charging, the light flashes three times and then doesn't come back on. I tried turning it on, as well as hard restarting, but nothing happened. The charging light isn't coming on at all after the three flashes. What could be wrong with it and can i fix it on my own?
