Kodak Easyshare DX7590: Why is my camera not working after I ordered a new battery

I ordered a new battery for my Kodak EasyShare DX7590 camera. I have charged the camera, but when I turn it on the picture in the viewer is almost dark. You can barely make out what you are focusing on. I double checked again on the battery on a different site and it also says I have the correct battery. The only difference on the two batteries is that the original one had 1700mAh and the new one has 2400mAh. Any ideas? I really like this camera, and hate to have to replace it. Thank you!
