KitchenAid KHB100OB: How to replace the motor (or perhaps just the fuse)?

My immersion blender shorted out. There was a flash of light inside the housing and now it will not work. Any ideas for how to replace the fuse, or perhaps the whole motor?

my kitchen aid handheld blender stopped working when a friend of mine was making mash potatoes. (serial: WHP331O317; model: KHB100OBO) it's not obvious to me how to open it up. it has a variable speed dial on the top, and the blade mechanism can detach. i'd love to fix it rather than throw away.

KitchenAid KHB100OB immersion blender rubberized button cover has cracked due to wear. The blender works fine. Is there a guide of how to replace the rubberized button cover on a functional blender?
