If it can't be fixed, how would I get my docs ouot of its memory?

I've tried the holding the button method for a reset. The screen flickers black then white again and it's stuck on the screen again.

I tried plugging it in my macbook but it doesn't show up even during resetting

Any ideas on how to fix that?

The black adhesive of the screen bezel was totally ruined during disassembly so I replaced it with a layer of black insulating tape and thin white double-sided tape.

Bad idea as now the led light is not distributed evenly and there are "light cones" where the LEDs are on the display.

Does anyone know what could I use as a proper replacement of the screen adhesive?

My Kindle was stuck all the time on home screen.

When I press power button it would popup option to restart, shutdown cancel however I was never able to select it.

Out of frustration I followed an article on Internet "Doing Factory reset using computer"

I created File without extension Do_Factory_Restore transferred to kindle performed factory reset.

Now my screen is stuck at language setup page.

• I am unable to select get started 😑
• I tried pressing hardreset for 40sec no joy.
• I tried connecting kindle to computer it shows drive is not ready😓.
• I have put my self in helpless situation.

My Kindle paperwhite 7th doesn't switch on anymore.

I opened it and on the flat cable that seems to go to the display, one of those small components had some kind of dust like oxidation, that I've tried to remove. Also when I try to charge it or switch it on, exactly that faulty component gets really hot. I don't know if this is related, because also before I would sometimes feel the back of the kindle slightly warm in that position on the back of the cover, but it would still work.

Also a few months ago the battery started to drain really fast. I changed it, but same Beauvoir with the new one.

If I put it to charge the white led backlight switch on all around.

If I try to reset it the orange bottom light blinks but nothing happen. I don't know if it's because nothing happens, or it actually restart but the screen doesn't work.

I would like to fix it but I don't know how.

Maybe getting a second hand screen and cable replacement? But it might not work

I started replacing the USB socket in my Kindle but accidentally the conductor strips were thorn.

Now, I want to do a bypass and solder it directly to the right spot using thin wires.

The problem is that I can't determine where to solder them.

Could you advice me where to solder all 4 pins?

I figure that any site with a Teardown section has the readers to help me so here it goes.

One day the touchscreen just stopped working.  I can still charge, I can turn it on and off, but when the “Swipe to Unlock Kindle” appears, swiping does nothing.   It’s on an ad so the “Read Now” does nothing either.

I can reset with the 40 second holding of the button and that brings me to the Home screen but again, not responsive to touching anything.

I also noticed a very quiet rattle of something inside when I move the Kindle from side to side.

I called Amazon and they basically said they’d only credit me $15 for the device so I figured I’d try and open it and see if the rattle was anything.

I managed to get a corner open, and directed the “rattle” to that corner. A tiny white component came out.

I opened the device further to see that the screen was surrounded by these and one was missing.

What are these?  Is this the cause of the touchscreen not working? Is it worth trying to solder it back on?  If a mini resister or capacitor, can I replace with a larger one of the same value?  Any help appreciated.

First image shows the internal board. As you can see, the 5th component on the top from the left is missing. The second image is face-up and the best close-up I could do. The component contacts appear to be on the sides.

I have a Kindle Paperwhite, 6" High Resolution Display (300 ppi) with Built-in Light, Wi-Fi - bought in October 2015.

Kept well, it hasn't fallen down, nothing untoward. Stopped working. The screen had an erratic display for a while, and has now stopped responding.

Can anyone help?
