I have a 3rd generation 7" Kindle Fire HDX, the screen is broken and completely unresponsive to any input, and the micro USB port doesn't work unless the cord that's plugged in is angled a specific way. A combination of both these things have stopped me from being able to get some very sentimental files off of the device. I've read the relevant repair guides, but I'm very inexperienced with this sort of thing and I'm afraid of doing something wrong and potentially damaging the device further. Is there an alternate way for me to get what I want?

So when While my girlfriend was using the Kindle it all of a sudden shut off. Pretty sure the battery had some charge, so that leaves me to believe it isn't the battery. I'm also getting 3.2 Volts off the battery when I multimeter the leads. However, i'm not sure if it's the screen either. It's been inside an otter box its whole life. I'm leaning towards the idea that the backlights in the kindle burned out or some other weird screen anomoly but i'd love a second opinion before i buy a new assembly. Thanks a bunch!

My 3rd generation Kindle with cellular started “jumping” from screen to screen all by itself ( from home pg to settings, runs though all the options in settings, then to guide, then to….)

I have reset, and factory reset a number of times. The techs in India were no help; they just had me do everything I have already tried. The last attempt with them, one of them said the device was “not fulfilled” and that was the problem. After asking him 3 times what “not fulfilled” meant and not getting an answer; I stopped that waste of time. I keep getting told it’s a software problem but I have updated and reset numerous times. I think it’s a hardware issue. Any ideas?

Kindle Fire HDX 7": Kindle Stuck on Boot Screen after Battery Replacement

I have a Kindle Fire HDX 7” 3rd Generation (C7U3RE), and I recently replaced the battery with this battery using the fixit tutorial. Original battery was a nuisance to get out, but I successfully installed a new one and reassembled it.

Upon turning on I am greeted briefly with the kindle fire logo in faded blue/green, and then it transitions to the regular beige and orange kindle fire logo with the shimmer effect. It just stays on this screen and never progresses. It’s not quite a ‘boot loop’ as it is not turning off and on again.

I have tried various related suggestions on the internet, but want to hear from the crowd once more. Thanks.

Like others my beloved Kindle Fire HDX 8.9”, purchased in June 2014, has developed “ghost touch”. I presume I need to replace the screen. :(

I hadn’t used my kindle for several months. It was dead, plugged it in and recharged it over night. Woke up and it was frozen on the “kindle fire” logo. I have done the … plug the charger in and hold the button down for 30 sec, screen goes black. I waited another 30 sec and held the button down until the logo reappeared. It will go no further then that. It is still stuck on that screen. :(

When I power up my kindle, it just pops up with the Kindle Logo. I have tried soft and hard resetting but holding the power button down for 40 seconds does not reboot it, and when the screen turns off, holding the volume down and power button at the same time just puts the logo back on my screen. This is very frustrating!

Can anybody please help with why I can’t even soft or hard reset?

My hdx 8.9 will not charge.

initially it would not charge when hooked to the cable. Even after changing the cable and light jiggling of said cable. Eventually I got it to charge to 6% before it just stopped charging again. I turned on the device got tech via mayday. But then I could not turn the device off. When the batterywent out I tried charging it again with no result. BUT now on can't tell if it's not charging or the darned power button won't work.

Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" - battery indicator showed power was low, waited too long to plug in the charger, now it will not power up. Tried different chargers, overnight charging, and cables, even a PC overnight. Tried holding power button to reset as well as power and volume up. USB / charging port seems snug.

My questions:

If the battery was dead, would it turn on with the charger attached?
Is there any type of circuit between the USB port and the battery that would require power from the battery in order to operate (to charge the battery)?
Can I get access to the battery connections to manually put a small charge on the battery? (yes, I am willing to kludge together two 'C' cells and hook it to the internal battery to jump start the charging circuit if it exists.)
Are the batteries the same for the HD and HDX?
What did I not ask?

Need to factory reset my old 7” Kindle Fire HDX (3rd Gen, model C9R6QM), but still have old parental controls set up on it from when my mom was rather touchy with how my brother and I used technology. Neither of us have any idea what the password might be, but need to factory reset it before I try to sell it.

Anyone have a way to wipe it clean without a PC password?

Kindle Fire HDX 8.9": Restarting continously over and over to Logo

I downloaded a new app and my HDX turned itself off and started a cycle of restarting that will not stop. Did a number of factory resets, no change. It restarts only to the colored logo and shuts off and restarts over and over. Amazon said that it needs to be replaced. Can it be repaired?

Also I have left it on the charger overnight before the last factory reset and it makes no difference.
