Hi,

I just bought a 2nd hand Kenwood Chef A701A. It is working, the speed can be adjusted from one to max. However, there is burning smell but no smoke. How should I check on the motor and what to change?

Kenwood Chef A701A: Pinion drive gear in the gearbox

I have the pinion drive gear out of the gearbox and it seems to be in good order with no splits on the cogs. However I notice the cog spins freely on the shaft and it seemed to me that the cog should be locked to the shaft in order to transmit power the remaining gears in the gearbox. The problem I am trying to fix is the motor running does not turn the planetary gears with any strength. They might start to turn a bit and then stall and don't turn.

Kenwood Chef A701A: Balloon whisk hub assembly service

The balloon whisk in my a701a KENWOOD seemed to be misaligned.

I noticed a small flathead screw in the middle of the hub assembly naturally I figured I’d undo this and see what was inside. Turns out it’s quite hard to realign the wires and reinstall the hub. anyone have any tips? Should I be regressing the hub? Is there an order to the wires?

how many shims are there on the motor armature at the bottom end near the control board?

I have removed the armature from the housing and I am not sure how many shims there were.

My kenwood will just pop open when it’s mixing. I have to hold it down. It started doing this when I was mixing dough but will do it for anything now.

Kenwood Chef A701A: Should I replace gear oil?

I found this stand mixer at my grandmother’s house and it still works great. It has not been used in over 15 years though. Should I replace the gear oil or is this not required? Some oil leaks down through the attachment hole (not in the bowl luckily) and there is a cover at the top that I can pull off where the oil is stored (it is black oil). It does not smell burned when used, only a bit dusty.

Kenwood Chef A701A: My front lever won't budge to remove 'Kenwood Major' in the front.

Hi,

I want to use the mincer attachment on my kenwood major, but the front lever that you need to pull to the right edge will not budge beyond a few millimeters. How do I loosen the lever. I tried dripping machine poil in the slit & the top grease base but it didnt work.

Any ideas?

Kenwood Chef A701A: Drive belt keeps coming off

I have re-assembled my Kenwood Chef (it actually might be an A901 but they are very similar) after replacing caps and resistor.

The drive belt wants to come off. It has burnt channels in the top cover!

Some forum answers have suggested that the motor is turning in the wrong direction.

Why is the belt coming off and what do I need to do to fix it?

Hi, I inherited my grands Kenwood Chef A701a but its running sluggish and slow, does not reach high speed.
