Kenmore Direct Drive Washing Machine: Replaced clutch and transmission and now motor just hums

Hi, my washer was not spinning or agitating and I replaced the transmission and clutch, although I never found anything that actually appeared broken. It was also leaking so I replaced the center seal. In any event, I put it all back together (I thought correctly) and now the washer fills but that’s it. I can turn to any part of the cycle and the motor just hums. It doesn’t click like it’s changing cycles, doesn’t agitate, spin or drain. Obviously I did something wrong or something broke in the process of replacing the other items but don’t know where to look. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This is my first time attempting this type of thing. Thanks!

Kenmore Direct Drive Washing Machine: Washer Won't Spin Without Resetting Start Button

I’ve got a used Kenmore direct drive washer with a lid switch bypass that consistently skips the spin cycle. The machine fills with water fine, agitates, and drains, but it does not spin UNLESS I stop the machine, reset the dial to the spin cycle, and restart it. I’ve noticed that the machine makes the drainage suction sound all the way through the non-working spin cycle till the full cycle completes. Here are things I’ve tried:

Run different cycles with the same results

Inspect the lid switch bypass- used a separate bypass wire instead of the bypassed switch and still had the same results

Replaced the washer timer with the same results

Replaced the washer drive coupler with the same results

Took apart the transmission to replace the neutral drain kit… with the same results

I’m losing my mind here. The only thing I can think of left is something being wrong with the drain pump itself not stopping to kick the machine over into the spin cycle? Anyone have any thoughts before I dump more cash into this moneypit?

Kenmore Direct Drive Washing Machine: Washing machine Spin cycle issue when heavy stuff only

My kenmore 70 series washing machine does agitate and will spin if the load isn’t heavy stuff like towels, or a full large load. If the load is heavy when wet, the washer has a bit of a burn smell, and it doesn’t spin. If I remove about half of the load it will spin, once a bit of the water wrings from that half, I can add the rest of the load back in and it will spin fine. So it’s only an issue when it’s too heavy, but hasn’t done this the last 10 years until now. So is my motor coupling going out? Or is it something else?

Kenmore Direct Drive Washing Machine: CR1 light turning on and off on control board. Not initiating cycle?

On the back of the circuit board, the CR1 light is blinking as the washer turns on and off. It is a consistent pattern when I plug it in and goes as follows:

*click* CR1 light on for approximately 5 seconds. *click* CR1 light off for approximately 5 seconds. Repeat.

(no lights indicating which step of the cycle washer is in or if lid is locking.) (no lights on front)

I replaced a capacitor which I thought had blown but that did not change anything.

Kenmore Direct Drive Washing Machine: Kenmore Washer Spin Cycle Only Works Occasionally

So I just got a used Kenmore Washer and I’m running into an issue. Relatively frequently, the tub does not spin during a full cycle. Agitator, Rinse, and Drain all work fine, but sometimes the machine just doesn’t want to spin. However, if I stop the machine and restart it when it’s supposed to be spinning (not adjusting the timer from it’s current position) it immediately spins no problem.

I suspect the problem lies with the timer itself as it also froze up once on a different full cycle and didn’t advance for two hours, but I’d love some thoughts before I drop an additional $150 to test my theory. Apparently appliance parts stores allow you to return an unneeded part as long as it’s not installed (and somehow can tell if you’ve plugged something in once to test). Here’s additional info:

· There is no lid switch- the switch has been bypassed.

· The clutch assembly only turns when the tub turns (ie it’s not free spinning).

· There are no unusual smells or sounds (other than clicking as it cycles (or tries to cycle) between modes).

· I disassembled and reassembled the timer after pulling out the copper arms and cleaning the contacts with a whole bottle of contact cleaner (there are tiny plastic covers at the tips making cleaning the actual contacts with sandpaper extremely difficult). Problem still persists.

Any thoughts/suggestions are very much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Update: just realized something potentially important. When the washer doesn’t spin, i still have to stop/start it to spin. However, if I stop/start it while it drains, it immediately starts spinning instead of waiting for the drain cycle to finish first. Makes me wonder if it’s an issue with the transmission?

Kenmore Direct Drive Washing Machine: towards the end it stopped spinning, didn’t drain, and smoke started

I know it’s been a while since anyone posted but I’m hoping someone can help me out here…I have a top-loading Kenmore Heavy Duty Plus (not sure what model number) I inherited from my mil - it must be at least 20 years old. I washed some summer blankets and it was working fine, then towards the end it stopped spinning, didn’t drain, and smoke started coming out of the machine. I’m not sure how long this was going on before I noticed it. I think the spinner thing may have gotten tangled up in the blankets. I took the blankets out and switched it to “Spin Only” and the water drained out. I then figured it was ok and put another load in. This time the water filled up, the machine made a loud humming sound and nothing else happened. I also smelled the burning smell again. Did I burn out the motor or is it something else?

Kenmore Direct Drive Washing Machine: Spin basket (drum) not turning during spin cycle

I have a Kenmore 400 (model #: 11029422801) and the washer goes through the wash cycle without problem until it hits the spin cycle. During the rinse cycle, it appeared that the agitator and drum spun in tandem when the water was draining. But in the spin cycle, only the agitator spun and not the drum. I've been advised that this may point to a faulty timer, but a bad clutch seems to make sense too.

I've already replaced the lid switch and that did nothing to address the problem.

Could you advise? I'm trying to decide which repair would solve this issue.
