Kenmore 80 Series Washing Machine: Horrible grinding sound when spin cycle ends.

After washing a blanket my washer made this awful grinding noise as the spin cycle stopped. Thinking it was just strain from a heavy sopping wet blanket I gave it a rest and tried a small load of clothing the next day. To be clear the washer still spins, agitates and carries on as normal all the way up to the spin cycle. Its not spinning enough to wringe out the clothes they're still soaked but it does spin. When the spin cycle ends it comes to a slow halt and makes this banging and grinding sound. What part could it be and what should I look for when I take this thing apart?

Kenmore 80 Series Washing Machine: No power after heavy load

We decided that it would be a grand idea to wash a large rug in the our Kenmore Series 80 washer. Doh! It got halfway through and lost power. The tub is still full of water.

I've confirmed that the unit has power to the control board. I can't find a fuse anywhere.

I'm not sure what to try next. The control board is only about $5, but it has no visible damage to it.

Is there a service manual for the Series 80 around somewhere? Any other ideas for troubleshooting?

I'm afraid I burned out the motor but it's a fair amount of disassembly (plus manually draining the water) to check that.

Wiring diagram that I found:

I have a kenmore series 80. It doesn't spin well so I think it needs a new clutch. However, the transmission is totally stuck and I can't remove the transmission shaft out of the drum. Is it just rusted solid and beyond repair, or what could i do to fix it? I also can't get the tub nut off, even with the special tub nut wrench.

Kenmore 80 Series Washing Machine: Kenmore 80 series drive tub seal replacement

I replaced the tub seal on my Kenmore direct drive washing machine as shown on this youtube video (Whirlpool/ Kenmore Washer Repair: Drive Tub Seal Replacement (part #383727) - YouTube). When I had removed the outer tub I had noticed caked up dirt/grease along the bottom of the outer tub near where it would contact the inner tub and mounting stem. Thinking this was dirt, I cleaned it off and replaced the tub seal. I've put everything back together and now the tub makes a high pitched noise while in spin mode and does not spin correctly. Was I wrong to have cleaned that dirt off or was I supposed to grease the seal/mounting stem or space between the two tubs? What kind of grease is used for this?? Any help would be appreciated!!

Kenmore 80 Series Washing Machine: Machine not Agitating/Spinning and Draining

Hello, I have a Kenmore model 110.29882890 that was making loud banging noises when washing/spinning. I ended up changing the wear pads and changed all of the suspension springs and the counterweight balance spring. When I hooked up the machine and turned it on, it filled with water but wouldn’t agitate or spin (this wasn’t an issue originally and was working fine). It did a humming sound and I could hear the timer calling for the next step (ratchet/grind sound). After inspection below, I ended up replacing the coupler (the black rubber was worn and had some minor cracks) and the clutch band (just the inner band as the small white pieces on the machine were cracked). I also checked the dog agits and those were in good shape. Put everything back together and when I turned it on, nothing. It’s making the same humming noise and I can hear the timer (same ratchet sound). There’s a very faint burnt/smokey smell but not sure if it’s the machine or the fact that I changed everything. The only difference from before is that now the agitator doesn’t turn at all when I try to manually turn it inside the washer tub. I can’t move it left or right. Water is still in tub. Any ideas on what I can check? I can’t find any additional info beyond changing the aforementioned parts from what i’ve seen on google/youtube. I’d appreciate the help!

Kenmore 80 Series Washing Machine: Agitator not working; machine makes weird buzzing noise on spin cycle

My washing machine agitator has quit on me. When the timer hits the spin cycle, I hear a vibrating/buzzing noise, with a slight whine, maybe? Sorry for all of the words, it’s hard to describe the sound. To be clear the machine is not vibrating- the sound is similar to when your phone vibrates on a hard surface. I’m semi-handy with DIY projects so I’m not afraid to do this but I have no idea where to start troubleshooting.

Kenmore 80 Series Washing Machine: How to remove the agitator

I have a HD 80 Series Kenmore Washer (110-82692820) that will not spin. I've exchanged the motor coupling and bypassed the lid switch so I know that these are out of the equation. I've got a brake ready to install but I can't remove the larger agitator portion. I have removed the upper agitator portion but the larger lower portion has a sealed bearing object centered at the top of the larger upper agitator portion. Working WD-40 and pulling upward on the larger portion hasn't given me any results at removing the lower and larger agitator portion. Any ideas on what I may be missing? I've viewed many YouTube videos and read many articles but none reveal any solutions. Is there a special tool needed besides more ingenuity to remove the agitator? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
