Jaguar: How would I fix a car that wasn't started for 13 years- version 2!

Hello,

My grandpa has a bunch of cars that he doesn't feel like fixing in his backyard. I found a 1987 Jaguar XJ6 back there. According to the inspection sticker, it expired in 2003. I wasn't even born in 2003 yet. So, how would I fix it? Here's what I think it would need, and please correct me if I'm wrong.

-battery

-fuel (have to siphon out old gas)

-and a really good washing.

Would it need more than this? Also, how would I go taking it apart?

P.S. This is my first time fixing a car, so please explain it slowly lol

UPDATE:

I went over to his house again today and on Saturday I am going for the entire day to clean up the jag and an el Camino. I got 23(!) pictures of it today and it seems kinda in rough shape. Any advice?

Jaguar: Would not SHUT OFF...Now it won't START! 2013 XF

At first, vehicle would not SHUT OFF..! After pushing the button numerous times the car finally shut down. Now it will not start. Had codes: u0167 and u0426 on my scanner which I hope would assist in the diagnosis of the issue. I had a mobile mechanic look at it and he could not get it to start but thinks the ignition button or the ECM are the problems. Have you ever had this issue in a vehicle?

Jaguar: Why does my temperature guage needle start from the 'normal' position?

Jaguar XK8 2005 - Before putting the key into the ignition I noticed that the temperature guage needle was still at the ‘normal’ position, having failed to return to the ‘cold’ position, when I had last turned the engine off. I started the engine as usual and watched the needle slowly climb into the ‘hot’ position which had now become the new normal. When I turned off the engine the needle returned only to the ‘normal’ position again.

There is no sign of overheating. On the advice from Jaguar, I did a ‘hard test’ on the car by removing the leads from the battery terminals and connecting them together - there was no movement on the temperature guage needle. This situation has not changed for a fortnight but yesterday I noticed before I started the car that the needle had dropped nearer to the ‘cold’ position when I had last turned off the engine and was now not climbing so far towards the ‘hot’ as before. This situation still exists. Any ideas?

Jaguar: Rpms going up and down and trouble shifting gears

So I have a 2003 Jaguar S-Type that has automatic and a button for standard too. The automatic side wouldn't shift gears and made a loud sound when rpms would go up and down very fast. I started using the standard side and the rpms move up and down but not as bad. Lately when in idle the car the rpms go up and down when parked. My dad checked the transmission fluid and that's fine and full. Not sure what this could be but I want this looked at and don't know where to start.
