JBL Speaker: Partybox 200 won't turn on anymore

Hello,

I have had the JBL Partybox for over a year now and suddenly after pretty light use, it just stopped turning on.

The Power light illuminates orange so i know its getting power, I have opened it up and made sure all the ribbon cables and connectors were snug. I also have re-flowed and measured the power switch on the circuit board just to make sure it’s not the switch.

I can’t test any sort of power or connection since I can’t turn it on unfortunately.

I can’t seem to find anyone having the same issues as me so I am hoping I can find some help on here! Thank you in advance.

JBL Speaker: Opened JBL Bar 2.1 and have some interesting findings. Please help

I had asked this question on here a few months ago but that time I hadn't opened it or done anything to trouble shoot.

I have a 2yr old JBL Bar 2.1 Mk2. It stopped working about 2-3 months ago and I've opened it up now to try to see what could be the problem.

When playing any audio from any source, it creates a very loud screech sound from the speakers.

It is only present when audio is being played, it gets louder if volume is increased but if nothing is being played and volume is at 100, no screeching sound is there.

System sounds like bluetooth connected tune also make the same screeching noise.

Today I opened it up, there's a Switch Mode power supply and it connects to the main audio board with one pair of wires. This runs at 23V.

Then at the audio board, there are four big ICs only

ES8680FSB (DAC?)

EP92A2S4 (HDMI Arc)

2x Realtek ALC1322 with heatsinks on both (class d amp and codec?)

I thought there would be some dedicated IC for the class d amp but there's nothing obvious on either side of the board and only those two chips have a heatsink on them.

I've added a pic of the audio board. There's some white goo on the ALC 1322 chips from the heatsink.

The notable SMD parts

8 inductors near output pins (220 µH)

Around this, 5 electrolytic capacitors (220 µF 35V)

Little to the right, 1 inductor marked 100 µH

Near this, 2 x 220µF 16V and one 100µF 35V capacitors

To the edge of the board there's a 220µF 16V capacitor

There's two four pin outputs which are L,R Tweeter +ve, -ve and L,R Speaker +ve, -ve. So total 8 speaker pins.

What all I've measured:

Voltage at the 5 capacitors is 23V

On the capacitors next to the 100µH inductor, it has 5V

Resistance of speaker output + and - is 98kΩ

Resistance of speaker output + and speaker output - both to ground is 48kΩ

No ICs get very hot when I run it

DC voltage across speaker output is 0.002V?

Other very notable thing I also noticed was that when I ran the audio board without connecting the speakers, there was the same screeching sound but much fainter coming from the audio board itself.

Touching or holding the inductors would only barely reduce the volume of the noise.

Connecting the speakers would amplify this same noise 10x as it would be coming from the board and speakers too.

Please guide me on what to do next.

JBL Speaker: JBL SUB 140/230 Active Subwoofer continuously resets itself

Hi,

I have a problem where the subwoofer (JBL SUB 140/230) resets itself all the time when plugged in. Resets happen every few seconds or so. When plugged in, subwoofer turns on green light and speaker produces continuous static sound. After a second or so, subwoofer blinks red, speaker makes loud boom (short deep sound) noise and it shuts off. And it does that over and over again.

I have tried to play sound to it but it doesn’t change the situation. I have also tried to connect satellite speakers to the subwoofer and it also doesn’t make any difference.

I assume it is some kind of a problem with the electronics inside. I have checked speaker’s resistance and it is good.

What might be the cause of the issue?
