JBL Flip 4: Removing Swollen Battery from JBL Flip 4

My Flip 4’s battery went kaput. I researched how to swap the battery, purchased a replacement and was doing great until I realized that the original battery has swelled to the point that I’ve not been able to remove it.

In trying to remove it, the wiring harness ripped off and a little fire started!

I have a certified JBL repair facility two blocks away, but was hoping to get this done myself.

What’s a safe way to remove a swollen battery from a Flip 4?

JBL Flip 4: Play, Volume + and - and Bluetooth Button not responsive!

HI everyone!

Has anyone had experience with their Play, Volume + and - and Bluetooth Buttons not responding? Speaker powers on and off and Connect + buttons work just fine but none of the others respond, so I cannot factory reset or pair to any new devices (speaker works just fine on my computer but can’t get it to pair to my phone). Anyone know what I might be able to try? I’m seeing info for Power button but not for these other buttons.

Thank you!

JBL Flip 4: Why playing via AUX cut's on quiet passages in the songs/movies?

There is this problem with JBL Flip 4, I think that playing via AUX sound is more controlled, clearer bass and less distortion. But it cuts out the sound on quiet passages in the songs, or in the movie, it soo annoying. Does anyone have a solution? It works fine with BlueTooth, but let's say, movies, the sound has a delay via BlueTooth so it's weird.

JBL Flip 4: Flip 4's battery runs out quickly and other problems.

My Flip 4, only bought it for like half an year, is having a battery issue where it runs real quick. And when it charges, I find some problems like stopping the blink (which indicates it is being charged) stops at 4 point and never run to 5th unless I plug it in, again. And the sounds are getting distorted when the light hit red which indicates the battery has run short. I get it if the battery is efficiently using the juice by not using its full sound quality but when I turn up the volume at that moment, the battery runs out and the speaker shuts down. I bought it as my travel accessory and it doesn't quite help me with my purpose.

JBL Flip 4: Flip 4 how to remove twist off radiator on AN version. No screws.

I bought 2 Flip 4 at the same time years ago. When turning on they'll show 1 light or a just a red light but when I charge them both show one or two lights or 3 lights then after a few seconds show 4 lights then blinking on 5 and keep blinking after awhile but if I unplug and plug in again they'll blink on the fifth then after a few minutes the ligts are off. Today one turned on then turned off by itself and was blinking red but never turned on and stayed on the blinking red for hours and still doesn't turn on. I opened it to see if a connector is not completely in and ordered batteries cause I'm sure they are due but for the life of me can't twist off the radiators even with rubber gloves. Any ideas on the problems described and how to unscrew it?

JBL Flip 4: JBL wont't turn on and takes no charge after failed to update firmware

Hi Guys!

So, I have this JBL Flip 4. I opened on the phone the Jbl app, and it showed to update from 3.2 to 4.0 firmware. I agreed, then it showed to plug the device into a charger. I didn’t agreed that, then I made a phone call. After that I plugged the JBL in and agreed the firmware update. So after that the app showed it can not update it. I restarted the app and cleared cache 2 times, and waiting for the firmware update pop-up, it didn’t showed up again, after that I factory reseted the JBL by pressing the shown buttons for 10 seconds. After that the JBL won’t turn on and even it was not able to charge up. I tried to plug it in PC USB too. Notice:I put the JBL on charger after making the phone call and it was charging during the reset. I don’t think this device can be fixed without opening it, but I rly don’t want to lose its waterproofness.

The battery is fine I think, it charged up to 3 LED out of 5, maybe something with the logic board. I tried all the button combinations and it doesn’t show anything.

The question is:

Can I fix it by not dismantling it ?

# Can I fix it by dismantling it ? (The waterproofness is not a problem then anymore)

# How could I fix it, if I can or trow out the logic board

# Or can I find a reset button on the logic board ?

Thanks all of you guys and please ignore the why you did that answers/questions.

I just try to make sure if I can fix it or I need to throw it out. Yep, the warranty is expired half a year ago if you ask.

JBL Flip 4: Bluetooth Range & Connectivity Issue

Dropped my JBL Flip 4 on a hard surface. About a 5-foot drop. Now the speaker cuts out if my phone is more than 6 inches away from my phone when playing music. I believe this has to do with a damaged Bluetooth chip. I'm not sure if this is repairable or trash? The charging works fine. The buttons are all functional. Just the connectivity/range is severely limited. Any suggestions?
