JBL Charge 3: Why won't it work without the battery.

My JBL Charge 3 battery has been bad for quite a while, and just recently it began to swell. The swelling made the cover breech. So I find your web page and I removed the battery and attempted to find a new one. A new battery with postage is almost expensive as buying a whole new charge 3.

So with that in mind I chose to just plug in the charger and run it off the charger without the battery it will not run off the charger. I threw away the battery well actually I left it at batteries plus so they would properly dispose of it. I kept the harness off the battery thinking that I would just have to twist the right wires together to make it run again with the charger. Any inside on this would be appreciated thank you.

I upgraded the Charge 3 to the Connect+ firmware. I have connected the Flip 4 and the Charge 3 together and both work fine in Party Mode. Once I try to select Stereo it throws and error saying to move my phone closer and try again and close the app etc. I have done all that. Turned the speakers on and off. Repaired Bluetooth. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but only seems like party mode works. Please help

JBL Charge 3: Why is there Static Noise?

Hey everyone, a couple weeks ago I bought a JBL Charge 3. I instantly loved the speaker. But recently I noticed it had some static noise, like a radio that is untuned. Everytime I turn them on, not even with a device conected, I get the noise, no matter the volume or anything really. I havent put them on water or sand or dust, nothing. What could be causing this? Is there a solution to it? Are the speakers defective?

JBL Charge 3: JBL Charge 3 won't turn OFF (and stay off)

Have a JBL Charge 3 I bought 13 months ago. Last week it was kicked into the pool courtesy of my 5 year old. It saw water on all sides as it rolled, it floated, and was never fully submerged, the rear flap covering the charge ports etc was securely closed.

Since then, it won't power OFF (and stay off). I push the power button and all the usual sounds play and it turns off. However within 5 seconds it turns itself back on and will reconnect to my phone via BT.

Has the same issue if attached to power or running off battery. It's been on 4 days now and still has plenty of charge. Still works, just not optimal and a bit frustrating.

Hopefully someone has an idea of what might be going on.

Cheers.

Hello all,

I replaced the battery in a customer's Charge 3, and now it is acting strangely. When I try to charge it, it shows that the battery is charging/charged, but when I take it off of USB power it turns off immediately and I can't power it back on. When it's plugged in it turns on, but won't connect to Bluetooth. I read some suggestions to factory reset it, but none of the button combinations I found have any effect.
JBL Charge 3: JBL Charge 3 won't charge - replaced battery + charging board

Hey everyone,

I have a 2016 model Charge 3 that I have replaced the battery on once before successfully. A few months back the micro USB port broke (pins bent). So I decided to replace the charging daughterboard and put in a new battery.

Unfortunately, even with the replaced charging board - the JBL Charge 3 does not want to charge the battery. It draws around 0.25 A constantly when the micro USB port is connected, the charging light blinks for a few times then goes back to constantly on. I've tried two different batteries, same issue.

Even with the previous charging board directly connecting the + and - to the USB pads on the board, I get the same issue. It just draws 0.25 A constantly (even if disconnecting the battery while it's connected).

Anyone ever face this problem and know if it's fixable?

If not - I'll just leave out the charging board and create a jack to link to the battery directly lol.

Thanks in advance!

JBL Charge 3: Battery indicators always lit

Hello, recently I got JBL Charge 3 bluetooth speaker. Everything is fine except one thing. Battery indicators are always on. All 5 of them. Even in the JBL Connect there's always full bar. I was using it all day and when I came home I charged it. When I put it to electricity only 2 leds were lit and third was blinking. After some minutes all 4 leds were lit and 5th was blinking. The 5th led is blinking endlessly.. Everything works fine except the indicators... I will try to completely drain its battery and recharge it and I'll also try resetting it(power button and volume down). When I got it, it was charged to 4 leds and it was draining( only 3 leds left after some time). I put it to charge and I updated the firmware and leave it to charge. After some time the 5th led was still blinking endlessly but when I took off the charge cable it had 5 leds lit, those were still lit after 3-4 hours of usage...

JBL charge 3: Runs on Power but wont load

Hi everyone, just debugging my Brothers JBL charge 3.

He said it didn’t load. Ich disassembled it and found a inflated battery, hence i replaced that. Still have the problem of it not charging. After the battery I bought ran empty it is showing only the red light when turned on, so I assume it its empty. Plugging the turned off box in, doesn’t turn on the chargind led. However when I turn it on, all LEDs light white and I can play music. If I turn it off while still plugged in the front leds stay on until I unplug it, then I end up in the same state where I started.

I connected it to my 5V constant voltage supply and measured a current draw of ~0.140A when playing audio, 0.082A when turned off but the leds are still on and 0.071A when turned off, all leds off. So some charging seems to be happening, but not nearly enogh (loading at that speed would take 85hours). I assume something is wrong with the charging electronics, but I don’t yet know how it works. Any Ideas maybe?

Hello, my father has an old JBL Charge 3 that has served us well over the years (6? 5 years probably?) but now it sounds extremely bassy when producing a sound and music is almost unrecognizable.
