IBM ThinkPad T41: Why can't I turn on the laptop?

I've been unable to power up the laptop. Not sure why, but I do know someone turned off the power to my AC adapter (my battery died a few months ago, so I don't use one) and I haven't been able to turn on the laptop ever since.

When I connect the power cable to the laptop, the power symbol (the two-pin head icon) lights up. However, when I press the power button, nothing happens and the two-pin head icon goes out. If I remove the power cable and plug it back in, the symbol lights up again.

Anyone think they can help?

i dug up my old laptop and when i tried to power it on it did turn over but after a few seconds the screen turned black and nothing happend when i tried to move the mouse ext. the fan still turns and some lights still show. suggestions?

IBM ThinkPad T41: low battery life and screen shortage

When I move my laptop from another room the screen goes completely blank...Also need help as to why my battery life is so low....I leave the laptop charged over nite and it has maybe 35% of juice the next day...Can someone give me an answer as to why this happens...

Dear;

Accidently plug the laptop to another AC adaptor, and see the back screen, tried to use the orignal AC adaptor, same situation.

After checking found the the AC adaptor I used was having output greter than 19V.

what could be the issue?

IBM ThinkPad T41: Hard Drive not being detected

Hello , I'm having an issue with my Lenovo thinkpad T41. When i go into BIOS my HD is not being detected , I've tried installing Ubuntu 10.0.4 and it goes to a desktop but when I try installing the HD comes up blank and when I push continue an error message comes up saying "no root location" I am pretty new to diagnosing and fixing computers. Can someone please give me some advice on what this issue may be? Thank You

the caps lock have been removed from it's hold on the body of the think pad,what can i do.i am not a technical student but i can see there are two tiny square shaped plastic hold ,that keeps the fingers on the surface of the keyboard. The caps lock key pad which i touched now is just the rubber shoot out interior ,how can i replace the tiny plastics that hold it cos it has been scattered by a 1yr old baby.tHANKS

T41 IBM Thinkpad windows to LG Monitor
