Hotpoint Refrigerator: Fridge compartment not cooling.

HotPoint FFFL2000 frost free stand up fridge/freezer.

We bought this second hand and found when we switched it on that the fridge bit doesn't cool things. This was a shame but we already had a small undercounter fridge so we decided we could get by with that as our fridge and the freezer section of the Hotpoint.

We did read online that if this model gets turned off for a while and then gets turned back on, condensation can build in the vents from freezer side to fridge side and block them up as the freezer cools the fridge. So we defrosted the unit for 48 hours and dried any moisture we could find then followed the instruction manual to restart the unit.

For one day we had a fully functioning fridge and freezer. But now just the freezer works again. And with the weather being warmer we've started putting ice cream in there; we've found it freezes soft - regardless of brand. Also not sure if relevant but occasionally it makes a "clok" sound...

We'd really like to get it fixed but can't really afford an engineer at the moment so would like to have a go ourselves if possible. Any suggestions?

HTS18GBSARWW: Freezer section getting up to 60 degrees.

I have a Hotpoint Top freezer model number HTS18GBSARWW. I recently moved, and now the freezer section gets warm. I monitor it with a wireless system. I switched the sensors, and they will show the same thing. I'm having temperature swings from -5 to 60. I have no idea how long it stays at this temperature because I can never catch it. Whenever I look at the monitor, it shows the freezer functioning normally.

I am not sure this changes anything. The freezer is empty because I never put food in it.

Hotpoint Refrigerator: Fridge freezer compressor starts but shuts down in seconds

Hello,

I have a Hotpoint fridge freezer FFP187MP which came in the flat I bought. Initially, this fridge was working well, however, when the door of the fridge was opened the lights would flicker 3-4 times with a clicking noise, before staying on.

Recently I noticed the compressor comes on for a few seconds, then the same loud clicking noise happens and the compressor shuts down. After a few minutes, it happens again.

I also noticed that, at night, the compressor seems to run for longer, hence the freezer is working alright (food still is frozen), but the fridge temperature is higher than it should be.

I bought a starter relay and, funny enough, replacing it didn’t help. So I switched back to the old one as it seems to be more stable (could the new part be faulty?).

Has anyone experienced this before? I watched too many youtube videos now and wonder if it’s the evaporator fan, or thermostat, or even the control board that is failing.

Thanks!

Hotpoint Refrigerator: Hotpoint XECO85TI2GH Fridge not cooling in frost free fridge freezer

Hi, I have a Hotpoint XECO85TI2GH frost free fridge freezer which is only 3 years old and out of warranty now (of course).

Recently the fridge has not been cooling. I was advised to turn it off for a couple of days to make sure no ice had built up, which I did.

It’s still not cooling properly. It is on and running when I set it to superfreeze - you can hear it running but then the fridge gets quite icy if left on too long or it seems like there’s cold ‘humidity’ in there. The freezer seems cold enough. When I put it back to it’s number setting 5 or 6, it turns off completely and I can’t hear it running. Someone suggested it’s the condensor that’s not running properly. Any ideas? I really don’t wnat to have to buy a new one as this looks still brand new, but then I don’t want to pay for a repair only to find that something else needs repairing etc. Thank you.

Hotpoint Refrigerator: Opening fridge door causes noise and compressor to stop

Hi, I have a Hotpoint fridge freezer. If the compressor is running and I open the fridge door it makes a clunking noise, the light goes out and the compressor stops. The light comes back on a few seconds later and eventually the compressor kicks back in a few minutes later. Any ideas what might be wrong? I’ve taped up the light switch inside and the compressor doesn’t stop now when I open the door. I guess the extra power draw of the light coming on causes everything to shutdown.
