hoover carpet cleaner,FH 50150, just stopped in the middle of cleaning. waited and waited, still won't start. Purchased new power switch fuse. Still will not work. Of course it's off of warranty by a few months. What can I do now, besides screaming!

I started to use my Hoover Power Scrub yesterday and it quit running and smoke was coming out. The motor is shot. I started looking for a replacement motor and a new one is $50-60. A used one is around $30-40 amd there is an inherent risk, like how long is the expected life. I removed the tank and noticed that there was a plastic stem broken on the bottom that should be inserted into where the tubes begin. I ordered a new tank and it did not come with the plastic stem. So, it still doesn't work properly. I've looked for this piece where the tubes begin and I haven't had any luck finding anything. Please help.

Hoover Power Scrub Carpet Cleaner FH 50150 . Had burning smell and noisy. Took apart found motor housing that turns the brushes gears was rusted out and stuck. Installed motor unit that turns brushes. Cleaned out brushes and it spins freely. When I start unit the brushes barely turn. If i take my hand and cover that one hole that the waste storage container sits on the brushes turn so strong your hand can't stop the brushes from turning. Ss soon as I remove my hand from the hole the brushes slow down and barely turn. Am I missing something. Thanks
