Device: Seagate One Touch (Hub version)

The Issue: I accidentally used the power adapter from my Roborock H7 Handheld Vacuum to power my Seagate One Touch external desktop drive.

The Specs Mismatch:

Seagate Requirement: 12V / 1.5A - 3A
Roborock H7 Charger Output: 25.6V / 1.4A
Result: I sent more than double the required voltage into the drive.

Current Status: The drive is currently unplugged. I am worried about the internal controller board or the drive motor being fried. I haven't tried plugging it into my computer yet because I’m afraid of a short circuit damaging my PC's USB ports.

My Questions for the Community:

Is there a high likelihood that the TVS (Transient Voltage Suppression) diode on the HDD's PCB sacrificed itself?
Should I attempt to "shuck" the drive (remove it from the Seagate enclosure) and try connecting the internal SATA drive directly to a PC or a different SATA-to-USB adapter?
If the PCB on the hard drive itself is burnt, is a DIY board swap possible, or does the BIOS chip need to be moved to a donor board?

Any guidance on how to test the internal drive safely without risking my computer would be greatly appreciated!

My hard drive was extracted from my laptop after my laptop couldn't start. Upon extracting I used an external drive holder to access files. After some time I couldnt open it because I may have entered password wrongly and now it is giving notification of inaccessible.

It is beeping only, its the 2 tb external drive and there is no clicking or tapping, it happened after it fell off my computer tower, I know it sounds stupid and im an idiot, but should I send it to a recovery place?

Hard Drive: Help! External HDD partiton recovery

Well, a few months back I had to sell my 2008 iMac (C2D w/ Snow Leopard) because I was moving to somewhere 3.000 miles away. No biggie, I had everything on my 3tb external HDD and I can always buy another Mac.

Which I did, I bought a Powerbook G4 1,67ghz since I was on a budget and needed a laptop.

The thing is, once I tried to use Tiger to repartition my external HDD like I used to do with Snow Leopard, it's partition table got screwed up! After some reading on the web I found out Tiger's partition scheme is different but it was too late.

So I tried some demos I've downloaded for this task and one of them asked for me to reformat the HDD. Why not, a quick reformat won't really erase anything as long as I don't rewrite it and restore it's partition, right?

Well, that app didn't restore anything and now I have a blank 3tb HDD...

Since then (almost a month now!) I've been trying anything I can get a demo of the web: Stellar, iPartition, DiskDrill, Disk Warrior, TechTool, Data Rescue, FileSalvage, Yodot, etc. None seems to do what I want, which is to restore my partition table.

I even tried Test Disk, GParted and some Windows alternatives like Partition Guru, Data Recovery HFS+ and like the others I tried on my Mac the closest I got was to recover the files, but I don't have a 3tb HDD to backup the first one - some apps did recover it raw, but I don't even know what to do with 2tb of raw data.

Anyway, what I want is to recover my HDD's partition table like it was before all of this, any suggestion?

And why is it so hard to do with HFS+? Some 10 years back I had a similar accident with my Windows desktop and could undo it in a matter of hours including the time I spent looking for answers on the web...

Hello, I have a bad drive enclosure and I want to use R Studio to recover the data off the drives. The caveat is that I have a macbook m1 max laptop and need to find a reliable adapter to get the data recovered. Im open to either an adapter, docking station, or enclosure, but it needs to connect a 3.5" Sata drive to usb-c. This will take 24 hr + so I definitely need a super reliable one. My data is not backed up and this is my only chance to retrieve it. The drive has no bad sectors, but the proprietary RAID software malfunctioned making the drive not readable in a normal capacity. I tried the OYEN HDX PRO C ENCLOSURE. Both arrived DOA

Hi, i have 2.5'' hdd with a torx (T6) screw on the pcb that from the force it's turned into a round hole.

I have used the rubber band method but still no luck.Also i cannot use a heat gun cause the microchips may get loose.

I must try at all cost not to damage the pcb.
