Hamilton Beach 64650: Why won't my mixer turn on?

My mixer is plugged into the wall but it still will not turn on and I can't figure out why. I can slide the speed lever and press the quick burst button but nothing happens.

One of the beaters on my mixer quit working shortly after purchase. I finally went back and just bought another one thinking it was just a fluke. Nope, it too will not hold a beater. One side will but the other just won't hold!!! HELP!!!!' I'm beginning to think it's just the way the thing's made maybe. Anyone else have this problem????

Hamilton Beach 64650: The plastic bit inside the mixer that holds the attachment broke.

I was scraping down the sides of my bowl with a wooden spoon while the mixer was on and I accidentally hit a dough hook while the machine was turned on. The dough hook came out and so did the plastic bit that holds it in place inside the machine. Can this be fixed? thanks.
