HTC Vive Controller: Connected but not getting tracked by base station

One day I noticed my controller would occasionally stop getting tracked by the base station and my hand gets stuck in the air in game. Steam Vr said it was still connected.

So I looked some things up and opened it up and unplugged and re-plugged in stuff, I’m pretty sure I put everything back but still had the same result in it being connected but not tracked.

It’s been awhile since I last tried fixing it but now been around longer so maybe there’s a new fix out there.

One of my vive controllers has stopped pairing with the headset. The other one still pairs. What component is responsible for the communication (daughterboard perhaps)?

HTC Vive Controller: Vive rumble motor replacement

I have my Vive wand sitting here open and I do not see the rumble motor, I can feel it is in the grip section and I do not see it in the tear down guide either.

Also, you don’t have to take the 3 internal saucer screws out to open the grip compartment.

Okay so, I found out specifically that on one of my controllers the haptic feedback and sound is not working. The reason why is because there is a thin ribbon cable that tends to brake inside the controller, as seen here that causes the feedback and sound to not work. I was wondering if anyone knows where I could purchase a replacement trackpad. Please and Thank you.

I’ve noticed in the last few weeks my controllers lost tracking on occasion even though they’re in plain view of both base stations. I have the base stations set up with the link wire that allows them to communicate even if one of them can’t see the tracker.

My vive controllers are like new, barely used. One of them begins charging and then after a minute or two stops without getting charge. Tried putting external battery pack on just to see if it would power up but no luck. Help!

First, the hand flies away more and more. Then, the hand disappears completely. No more tracking. Knocking on the unmoved controller seems to provoke it.

is it possible that there are contact problems with solder joints or even under BGA chips? And is there a method to fix the error? With normal solder joints you can melt them again. With BGA chips it is a bit more complex, but not impossible.

So please state the cause if known. Even if you could not fix it yourself.

This fault may be THE electrical fault (besides mechanical) and it would be very helpful if the cause became known. I have another controller and would like to repair it.
