HTC Vive: How to diagnose my HTC Vive Base Station?

One of the two base stations is giving me the dreaded blinking red LED. SteamVR gives error code 10010, and pointing my phone at the tracker shows 9 active IR lights coming through in the main grid, and one down below.

Sadly where I live, shipping this base station back to have HTC take a look at it will cost a ridiculous amount.

Is there any good guide for opening up the base station and testing to find what IS faulty?

HTC Vive: How do I fix my tracking issues?

I’m having trouble identifying the tracking issue with my headset. The base stations are wall mounted securely and are placed in the correct positions to be able to see each other and the devices in the playing area (All reflective surfaces have also been covered and the base stations are connected via sync cable). Despite this, the headset will have tracking issues and sometimes “Rubber-band” (I.E. :The head will phase into the floor or rocket to the ceiling, or just have general tracking issues at random). My best guess is that there is an issue with the sensor’s in the headset because the controllers haven’t had that issue nearly as frequently as the headset has, the other guess is that there is something wrong with one or both of the base stations themselves. Any ideas to help fix this?

HTC Vive: htc vive deluxe strap, headphone screw wont tighten

I bought a used deluxe audio strap from ebay and 1 headphone side isnt connected and constantly falls off, so i went to youtube and saw that i need to tighten the middle screw from behind the padding, but it doesnt get tightened at all, the screw itself looks fine i think so im not sure what to try now, my only other idea is that its related to the metal part that its supposed to be screwing into in the headphone

----- edit

after some more trying i think it is from the tiny metal part, i cant seem to get the screw to screw into it which i can on the side that is working, is it possible in any way to replace it? i dont know where i'd get that replacement piece (willing to buy) and i dont know which tool lets me remove it (i assume its the circular thing on the side)

HTC Vive: dust specs on the oled screen

I dropped my headset and the left lens popped out. I carefully placed it back into the socket only to find that there is now a hair and a couple pieces of dust stuck to the oled screen inside. I have seen the teardown guides to get all the way down to the screens, but is there a simpler way of just re-removing the lens itself and then carefully cleaning the inside from there?

HTC Vive: Oculus Lenses on HTC Vive?

Hi guys! I think this is mainly for the staff at iFixit. Hearing about the difference in "screen door effect" when comparing the HTC Vive to the Oculus Rift, I can't help but wonder how much relates to lenses vs display and if it would be possible to swap the lenses. There aren't many folks who have disassembled versions around and I know it would be of major interest to a lot of VR enthusiasts.

It seems like the screens are similar but not identicle in size (90mm vs 91.8ishmm?), the lens to screen distance might be different, and I suppose if they display the content differently that would be another challenge. I'm curious if you would consider an experiment to swap the lenses to see what effect that might have. Thanks!
