HTC One M8: Glacially slow charging speed HTC M8

OK, so I have a six year old HTC M8 that is in pristine condition having been in a HD case since day one.

It had a new battery a couple of years ago.

Recently it’s been charging really slowly and cutting out when using the camera. It was showing an error stating ‘slow charging - use a HTC charger /cable’ (or something like that).

So I took it to a local tech guy whose work I trust. I asked him to replace the battery and the charging port/board/flex.

It’s not worked and it’s taking 24hrs to charge to 100%,. I can’t work out whether it charges faster tuned on or off. When charged, it holds the charge really well.

I know the phone is six years old but it’s immaculate and works great when it’s got charge. I’m trying to get to ten years. Hahaha

Anybody got any pointers please?

HTC One M8: New battery no charging no power

This phone is several years old and has worked flawlessly so I thought worth fixing. It recently started getting very hot when powered up and not holding a charge. Just installed a new battery carefully following your iFixit guide. Not a simple procedure but I double checked, all physical connections were good. Power button was in place on reassembly and volume sensors in place as well. Now when plugged into 5v 2.1amp charger (or any other for that matter), the red light flashes once every second but the phone never gets charged and will not start. I have held the power button and volume for over two minutes, plugged and unplugged. I then get a solid red light for one second, then a short green light for 1/4 second, then a red light for one second, a one second pause, then five red flashes at one second intervals. Then the sequence starts again. It never charges up and will not power up. Is this thing toast?

HTC One M8: Screen ghosting after replacement of micro USB board

Hello

After years of use for my HTC One M8, the micro USB port had finally become loose and charging required shoving things by the charging cable to make sure charging would occur (which even then sometimes there was a problem). I decided to repair the part myself and order a repair kit from Unifix Direct on Amazon. I did the repair and discovered immediate screen ghosting after the new part was in. It turns out my phone required the single pin version of the board as opposed to the double pin version.

After buying a replacement single pin board, the phone began to work properly until I happened to drop it in its case (which caused the screen ghosting to return). I opened up the phone again and redid the install to see if something was loose but it produced the same screen ghosting result. I was going to check the screen connectors but got busy so didn’t get a chance to do that. Oddly enough, after almost a week of sitting open the problem disappeared without having done anything to rectify it. Unfortunately, a few days later the problem returned out of nowhere as I put my phone in my pocket and took it out to see the screen ghosting had come back.

I will definitely be going back into the phone again, but need more knowledge before hand so I can fix it once and not keep opening it (about the third or fourth time I’m opening it now). I’m hoping someone would be able to provide some feedback about the situation as I’m wondering if putting the wrong part for the micro USB board in the first time has caused something to fail elsewhere in the phone. There may very well be a screen issue, but there were none until I opened my phone up for repair and put the wrong part in. I’m hoping I don’t need a new screen to solve the problem, as I’m hoping to replace this phone soon, but am concerned that may be my only option at this point (even though screen replacement is more invasive than micro USB board replacement).

Any information or diagnostic techniques would be greatly appreciated as restarting the phone does nothing and redoing the board connections didn’t seem to do anything either.

HTC One M8: My motherboard is not working but I think there's still life?

Hello all, I have several problems

My first one is that when I was trying to fix an error message that kept popping up on my phone, I put it in recovery mode and then it flashed and turned off and has not turned back on since, I tried every button combo possible but nothing but it heats up every time it connects to the battery so I disconnected it and switched motherboards.

My second problem is the motherboard I'm using now keeps giving me an process.acore stoped working error and I was told its a demo motherboard so it can't be updated but the error is messing with my phone calls and contacts so I cannot make calls and sometimes cannot receive.

Is there a way to fix both of these problems or one I prefer the first motherboard that is I'm assuming stuck in recovery because the one giving me the process error has a small damage on it. I accidentally broke a small gold thing off of it and I have no idea what it was for and what it does.

Thank you for reading.

HTC One M8: Replaced battery is not charging

Hi all,

I hope you can help, we recently refurbed my HTC M8. It just stopped working properly one day the battery wouldn't hold its charge and then just died completely.

So we decided to replace the battery and the charging port as that was very wobbly. This was done successfully but the phone won't switch on. We have tried holding the on/off button and all the other combinations but nothing. The only thing that happens is after holding the buttons for a count of ten the light will flash orange twice but nothing else. This is when it is plugged in.

Is it possibly something else, the connections have all been checked and are fine. It has even been plugged into a laptop but I am guessing because it is off that is why it doesn't register.

Sorry for the long post, but hope you can help.

Thank you Kate
