HTC Evo 3D: Are new, malfunctioning digitizers the norm?

I am new at mobile phone repair, but have been a tinkerer all my life, and repaired my phone twice Optimus S, bad USB port, and volume rocker).

The evo 3d came to me in pieces with a broken glass. The owner had bought a new digitizer, disassembled the phone, did not have a heat gun, and got stuck. I removed the old digitizer, and installed, including new two sided tape the digitizer he had purchased from someone on ebay over a month prior. Upon booting the phone, I noticed it was hard to unlock. I turned the screen test mode on, and there was a horizontal dead zone in the digitizer, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch high about an eighth of the way up the screen. So, after checking cables and connections, I ordered another digitizer from a different vendor. It has a similar issue. I have tested this one on the side without instaling it. Looking close you can see a scratched/divoted spot on the reverse of the glass where the circuits come down. This digitizer was packed as new, with plastic protectors on both sides, in a bubble wrap sleeve, in a bubble wrap envelope in another bubble pack that contained the free tools the vendor shipped, so I doubt it is shipping damage. The damage also was not on the plastic protector covering that side. Looking closely, the item appears new. No scratches, no removal marks, and no adhesive remnants. I am linking a pic of the damaged area here:http://i.imgur.com/lFGh8.jpg

So I guess my question is, is this common when ordering parts on ebay (it was a top rated vendor, I am emailing them now), and if so, what are tips to avoid it?

HTC Evo 3D: Replaced digitizer, now the LCD Isn't working.

A friend of mine replaced the digitizer in his HTC Evo 3D, but when he powered it on the LCD wasn't working (as seen in picture) but the phone seems responsive with sound Ect. So i doubled checked all the ribbon cables and they were fine, so i'm assuming it may have something to do with the LCD.

Has anyone else had this issue or knows how to fix it?

What is the difference between the CDMA Vs GSM model of the phone when it comes to the inner structure of the phone?

I ordered a new mid plate and face plate. After ordering it I read that it will not fit Sprint version of the phone (CDMA) and only fits GSM version?

HTC Evo 3D: HTC Evo 3D wont turn on, but, getting charged

I had an old working HTC Evo 3D and I use it as a spare phone during travel to use prepaid SIM cards. I wanted to change the complete housing of Evo 3d and purchased a front, middle & back frame from online OEM vendors. As a newbie, I was so excited and started to disassemble the phone and to put into the new housing. All went well till I started to take the LCD and digitizer from the old housing. I made a mistake and ripped the flex cable of the digitizer. I felt very bad and then I decided that I need to order a new digitizer online.

I continued to reassemble the phone with the new housing. I made sure that I kept the sticky tape in the front housing intact so its easy to take it again. I completed the assembling and when I turned on the phone the LCD was displaying white and black dots. However, I could hear the HTC boot sound the “Quietly Brilliant” sound from the older phones. At this point, I thought I have damaged both the LCD and the digitizer.

Today, I tired to switch again, I dont see the phone booting-up or hear the boot-up sound or the white and black screen. When I charge the phone, I see the red LED light and then after some time it turns green. I tried all type of resets like power+volume buttons, power+camera button, long press power button. However, I dont think anything is happening.

Now, I am worried if the problem is now with the display or I damaged the motherboard. Does anyone know if the phone wont start if there is a damage to the LCD/digitzer. I am just waiting to know what might be the problem before ordering LCD/digitizer. I am unable to check which part is damaged now.

HTC Evo 3D: phone is self powering off with a full battery

Hi I love My HTC EVO 3D for the 3D Camera and 3D Image Touch Screen ( no glasses required ) You just can't beat that.

Unfortunately My phone seems to keep powering off right after it get's to the home screen after the password has been entered.

The batteries I use ( I have several ) are all fully charged and work well.

Sometimes the phone will power off right after I power it on.

If it is a software issue I do not know how to upgrade the software if I can't keep the phone on.

What can be done?

I would rather learn to fix it on My own

I dont' want to have to pay much $

lmk pls thanks.

HTC Evo 3D: Back cameras aren't working after LCD screen installation.

Hello all

I simply removed my broken LCD and installed a new one. It was smooth, no damage was done, but when I started my Evo, the only thing that didn't work were back cameras. The front one works, but I don't want to use my phone solely for selfies. I did hard reset, reinstalled ribbons and prayed a few times. Still the screen is black when I want to use them and after while the phone restarts.
