HP Spectre X360 13-aw0xxx Repair: Laptop screen is black/red tint but touch screen is working.

My laptop screen suddenly stays black when turning it on. Sometimes I can see some boot text and HP logo with red tint before it just dissapeared. There is no visible physical damage to the screen. I have plugged it into a monitor and everything is working and it detected both internal and external screen. The touch function on the screen also working. Should I order a new screen? There doesn't appear to be a backlight for the screen either. Is there any way to see if the display cable is loose without removing the screen?

Despite what Best Buy says, it looks like your site is saying yes, the battery can be replaced. Is that correct? My model number is HP Spectre Model x360 Convertible - Model 13-ac033dx ~ got around 2016. When the power cord is removed it shuts off immediately.
(This S.O.B. is finally out!)

The port had gone bad. I am still not sure if it was the connectors, the wires, or both. Thank you @nick for all the help. I REALLY appreciate it.

If anyone has a similar issue, try this first. It will save you several hundred dollars.

Also, the guide on the website did not cover the fact that you may have to remove the heatsink so you can remove the screen and motherboard like I did.

HP Spectre 13 4003dx x360: Has anyone done motherboard work for the no power defect?

Has anyone performed a successful microsoldering solution for the HP 13-4003dx fail which prevents it from powering on? Apparently, this is a common issue with this series. No power on or off the AC adapter - not even the LED light when the cord is plugged in. The power jack and battery are fine and 19 volts is getting to the motherboard. Many have reported visually blown capacitors in the power management area between the SSD reader connect and the LCD cable connect. I didn’t see any visually blown but did find a shorted cap that’s connected to PU1 - buck converter IC (an NCP81253 chip). Turns out the IC was shorted. Replaced it and the short is now gone but still no power on or LED light.

Ref removing display screen without damaging the screen so it can be put back in, this is required to change the Digi board or the WiFi Cable antenna cables. I have the fixit kit, but it did not seem to do anything to this display, The screen fits very tightly to the back panel, so was unable to get a leverage to move the screen and as this back panel was Gold in colour any scratches where viewable. Not a good repair situation.

hp spectre 13-3010dx: Refresh thermal paste for performance.

My Laptop is actually a HP Spectre 13-ae052nr It’s a super thin x360 / 2 in 1 with a core I7 chip, and now that it’s around 2 years old I’m pretty sure it’s time to refresh the thermal paste. This one doesn’t get so hot, but I know from working on Extremely similar X360 EliteBooks that it’s a bear to pull apart. I’m fearing that I’ll need to pull the motherboard just to re-do the heatsync. Does anyone have experience working on this? I’m a very capable tablet/laptop tech, but would rather avoid having to pull the entire motherboard because of all the tiny ribbon connectors and the likelyhood of inadvertently damaging a hard-to find component. I’m also planning to refresh my brothers Omen 17 inch, but don’t worry about such a large gaming laptop.
