HP ProBook 450 G1: system locked after manufacturer mode

did some repairs on my laptop a while back, and when I started it up after the initial repairs it said that the manufacturing mode was set and that I needed to enter the motherboard serial number. I never did that because it didn't seem to affect the performance the laptop but now all of a sudden when I turn my computer on HP is asking me for an administrator password or it locks me out of the system

this is pre boot.

I don't know if this is relevant but the night before this I installed virtual box with a Windows 7 guest....

edit: have already tried removing CMOS battery.

have already contacted HP this laptop is no longer supported by them therefore I cannot download the BIOS from them to use the BIOS recovery function.....
