HP Pavilion dv6000: Power up but no Display

I power up my computer and it starts to work but the screen does not come on. On the right hand side instead of the steady white light I get an orange blinking light and the Caps lock flashes as well. I've tried restart but same result. I was told that I could open the lap top and reset the CPU. Will that help or is my laptop beyond repair to where I need a new one. Additionally, would slaving my laptop to another to have the factory settings reset help?

HP Pavilion dv6000: Hp Pavilion dv6000 all lights briefly turn on but not turning on

hello all i am having a big problem i have this Hp Pavilion dv6000 that i had for a long time primarily as backup laptop recently it has been sitting in the closet unused for 2 mounths it worked fine then. today i wanted to use it agian and when pressing the power button all lights on the laptop briefly go on for 2 seconds but other then that the laptop makes no noise or shows anything on the screen i already tried removing the battery and holding the power button or trying to turn it on without battery no success i also tried removing the ram and also not working.

i am aware of the Well known videocard problem on this series of laptops however this issue has nothing to do with that

is this a problem related to the motherboard or can it possibly be a bad Charging port?

answers are always welcome!

HP Pavilion dv6000: dv6000 with Core Duo - Black Screen of Death?

Recently I was given an HP Pavilion dv6000 (dv6402ca), with a 1.7 Ghz Athlon x2 and an Nvidia GeForce Go 6150 integrated GPU. Apparently, this is one of those "black screen of death" machines where the motherboard is bound to inevitably fail due to BGA GPU solder cracking.

My question is this: I've found dv6000 motherboards on eBay with a 2.0 Ghz Core Duo CPU/GM965 chipset. Are these motherboards also susceptible to "black screen of death" GPU failure, or are they relatively more reliable than boards with Nvidia graphics?

My thinking is that I might just swap the existing motherboard out for one with a Core Duo CPU/GM965 chipset, thus eliminating the potential for GPU failure. But I won't bother if the Core Duo motherboards are just as failure prone as the Athlon boards.
