I have a HP Pavilion dv6-6c20ca Entertainment Notebook that somehow outlast units that came after. But recently it gives out over heat shutdown warnings.

Fan is only running at 100rpm and all reading over 100c . I asked canada computers about their changing fan service but they are asking 49.99 labor plus 100 for the fan on a 3 weeks turnaround at pretty unwilling to take the order feel.

Its like 15yr old so i don't want to spend that much on fixing while I know i wont use a new laptop to use as rough as this one, power on 24/7, watch shows n dl stuff carefree. If it is only a fan failing every component else are still functioning i dont want to just write it off.

Would like to know what model fan or kit is best for this job?

Thank you for the advice, i went to seek store help first after checking out disassemble videos. I am afraid that i might forget and mess up on what goes where after it is done as apposed to desktop where its so much less of a maze on the frame.

My biggest worry being not able to put it back together and bought the wrong part instead.

Esp after canada computer clerk told me my model needs a specific fan that is fully attached to the heat shaks that is more expensive and difficult to assemble

Hello. My laptop, an HP dv6700 does not turn on.

The power jack glows but when I press the power button, nothing happens.

Also, the 3 LED indicators, are all off when I plug in the adapter.

If the battery is connected, all 3 LEDs turn on and stay lit.

The laptop does not turn on in any way.

Anyone have a clue?

HP Pavilion DV6-6C35DX: Help! RAM Upgrade Issue

My laptop is old now, So i don't hope for an answer to this. This laptop was given to me by my cousin and it has 4GB PC3-12800S of RAM installed. Back to the question, I checked online for the ''MAXIMUM RAM does the laptop can handle and found out that it can upgrade up to 16GB RAM DD3 1333MHZ, And now I purchased extact PC3-12800S 8GB of RAM installing it to the laptop hoping to have 12GB RAM installed booted up and checked the "System Information" and was working fine next is checking the "Task Manager" and seeing it consume half of the memory in the "Process" Tab (it was 54% of memory used)'' and i was wondering "why i have 54% used memory i just opened the Task Manager" and i switched to check Performance Tab hoping what's wrong with the RAM installed and seeing the RAM Usage was 1.9GB/3.5GB and the newly installed RAM is not used seeing the "Hardware Reserved" was 8.5GB. I searched every way possible to solve the problem and nothing works. What seems to be the problem?

how do I fix this. I have a black screen and i can hear it booting up but get nothing everyonce in a while I get the screen where I can enter the boot menu or change it but thats it. Ive tried everything reset cmos to taking out the hard drive and still nothing not even anything on an external monitor. help me I dont care if I have to go over the steps a second time Im so willing to try any process

I have this HP pavilion dv6. Its decked out with a i7-2670QM and no dedicated graphics and 8gb ram. My dad got it from America and finding a replacement screen down here at the Balkans is almost impossible. I also did a thermal paste replacement, and because the fan was making very concerning rumbling sounds i re lubricated it. It works like a charm now (besides the screen). Now my only use for it is to keep it as a server pc but i want to be ready for when ill have to return my main laptop to my job. So i really want to get this bad boy up and running so i can be prepared for the future. In case you lost track: Where screen pls
