HP Pavilion ZD7000: Why do I get "Operating system not found" on boot?

The battery of my laptop is missing and I just want to make sure if that's what is causing that when I turn on my laptop it sends a flashing message on a black screen saying "Operating system not found..." I ask this because I don't want to buy the wrong part of the laptop. Does anyone knows if this is caused because of the laptop missing the battery or something else?

HP Pavilion ZD7000: HP Pavilion ZD7000 shuts down when attempting to load operating system

This is an old laptop so….it worked okay for what it was, XP system. Has a sketchy power plug. Thought loading a slimmer OS might make the experience generally better. Made a dual boot with linux. Worked fine with both operating systems for about six months or so. Then failed to load either operating system . Windows safe mode fails when it hits agp.sys. Linux returns a bios error [ 0.060000] . . MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC . XP Recovery console fails to load. Ended up loading FreeDOS which works. Tried to load 95, 98, ME, all fail at around 20%. Maybe a driver corruption or conflict or something has occured in the BIOS? Any help would be great. Thanks!

HP Pavilion ZD7000: DC input jack broken.

Is there two models of the HP Pavillian zd7000 as some of the instructions and photo's differ to mine? For instance, Ram cover needs removing to allow access for screen wire removal. Also the top fan is connected to the heat sink frame and has to be removed before not left in place until later in the process.

When all instructions and screw removal is complete the keyboard is firmly fixed on the drawer side but no screws are visible!

I am trying to replace the DC input jack as it has an intermittent connection. The AC DC converter shows a steady 18.6v of output.
