My HP Pavilion x360 13-S104NE has stopped turning on after replacing the battery thanks to AliExpress shipping me a battery with reversed polarity at the terminals which fried the motherboard

The motherboard is the main fried component, but the screen and keyboard/trackpad assembly are also broken, as well as many missing screws thanks to my idiot brother, totaling new parts for repair at more than $700, and considering this is a 9-year-old laptop, my dad says it is not worth repairing, but he wont buy a new laptop either

Any other ideas other than an entire new motherboard such a specific chip? The rest of the components could be taken care of by turning it into a desktop setup, and fixing it slowly as I save up, although considering I don't have an allowance and get my cash by finding coins on the street every few months, that is probably going to take years

EDIT 29/3/25: When connected to the charger some of the capacitors near the charge port become really hot capping at over 63°C

I have been using this laptop for 6+ years, and it’s getting really loud, I’m not sure it’s the issues with the fan or the battery.

Apparently there is a hidden central 9th screw in the center of the keyboard, which prevents me from liftig it to replace the battery. Or is it a clamp ore something similar?

I've used the full device name my system provides, but I can't find much information on the issue my laptop is having, possibly because it's around 6 years old and discontinued by HP.

My laptop has developed an unfortunate habit of powering off with no notice, often while I'm trying to do work for university. I recently replaced the battery with a compatible (to the best of my knowledge) off-brand one from Ebay. This fixed its issue of telling me the battery might be too old every time I started it up, but began the random powering-off issue. I usually have to plug it in for it to restart.

When I restart the laptop (and on the first occasion I started it up after adding the new battery), it displays the following message:

"The CMOS checksum is invalid. The CMOS will be reset to the default configuration and will be rebooted. Please check your BIOS Setup options to see if they change.

CMOS Reset (502)

ENTER- Reboot the system

The laptop then restarts as usual, with my browser tabs able to be restored, programs auto-saved etc., so it's not a massive worry. I've also noticed the date and time are sometimes wrong afterwards, so I go and toggle those settings until it resets.

Having visited the webpage, I gathered that this code indicated I should update the BIOS, but I can't find any software for this laptop or a similar one that will work with Windows 11.

I'd like to keep this laptop working as long as possible, but I know she won't last forever. Do I just need to accept this as one of her quirks? I'm also thinking about a system reset, but I don't have a backup drive at the moment (broke student lol), and if I can possibly avoid having to reinstall all the software I'm using to study (various CAD programs, full Adobe suite, Clip Studio paint, video editing stuff etc.) that would be great. Any other advice on places to look is appreciated!
