HP Pavilion Notebook 17: My PC no more starts after replacing HDD with an SSD

Hello,

In order to boost performances of my PC HP Pavilion 17, I tried to replace the original HDD WD10JPVX-60JC3T0 (1 TB) by a Crucial SSD disk CT480BX500SSD1 (480 GB).

Now, when I try to start the PC, it does not start at all (nothing on the screen, no fan starting at all), as if there were some kind of short circuit. I can't even see the boot sequence.

As soon as I put back the HDD, it starts again so it seems that I did not damage the PC when opening it.

Any idea where it can come from ?

Do you think it is a powering incompatibility ? I looked on the Crucial web site and they seem to say that the SSD is compatible with HP Pavilion 17 series.

Thanks

HP Pavilion Notebook 17: Won't work on Battery

Hello and thank you for the forum and the chance to finally fix my laptop. I woke one morning ant the laptop would not respond. I tried everything I knew but could not bring anything up on the display. I finally removed the battery and wha-la everything worked as normal, except as soon as I put the battery back in it completely went black and had no power indicator light. I again removed the battery and again it powered right back up as normal. I, in essence, now had a desk top computer instead of a laptop. All indications I had told me the battery was bad. I purchased a new battery from Battdepot and waited for it to arrive from China.

My new battery arrived today. I carefully unpacked it and read the direction. It seemed easy enough to me. Following the directions I installed the new battery and BAM,, the screen went blank and would not power back up in any configuration until I once again removed the battery and plugged the charger back in. Has anyone else experienced this problem or chain of events before ?? Now it indicates that there is a problem with the battery recognition by the laptop. Something must be wrong with the interface between the computer and the battery. Does anyone at all have any suggestions for me??

Thank you everyone for your assistance with my problem. If I can ever return the favor I surely will..

HP Pavilion Notebook 17: USB slots not working

I went to plug in a USB phone charger and mistakenly had it upside down (It was dark) I didn’t force it in but pushed it in as normal thinking it was the right way up. As soon as I did that the laptop completely shut down. I took a look at the USB slot and seen one of the gold pins had been bent. I tried m best to bend it back into place after I shut it down. Once it was back on I tried the USB slot but again the laptop switched off. I then tried the other USB slots on the other side of the laptop and they don’t cause the laptop to switch off but they aren’t working at all. I looked online for help and already tried the method of removing the battery and turning laptop on then restarting again with the battery. Also tried going into devmgmt.msc and unticking the option that allows the computer to switch off USB to save power.

I can’t find any other solutions and was wondering if anyone on here had any? Any help is appreciated!

HP Pavilion Notebook 17: CPU Fan not getting Power ( Fan Works ) HELP

Hey Guys,

Pav 17-e118dx

I picked this laptop up to do some maint and sell. The Fan was extremely noisy so like usual I took laptop apart and replaced the fan, when i replaced the fan i replaced the thermal paste with better aftermarket paste. Everything seemed to go smoothly . I booted it up and got the cpu fan error . I verified the fan was working by taking it back apart and hooking it to a small power source. Spins good sounds good. I put back together and it still wont spin . These are all the avenues i have gone

Bios checked fan always on - toggled it on and off both have no change

Removed the battery and all power source- Hoping i could get a reset to maybe something in the firmware

Hooked another fan up ( nothing no spinning )

Hardware is a Fan specific to that build if anyone wants to know.

Ive repaired thousands of laptops and im scratching my head on this one. Flashing the bios help? Updating? Could a sensor be shorted out? What are my options!

Thanks

HP Pavilion Notebook 17: Laptop doesn’t boot makes clicking sound and then repeats

Laptop makes a click or spark sound around the CMOS battery area

17 inch HP Pavilion with i5 4th gen processor

Recently replaced my HDD to an SSD and when I went to test out the SSD I accidentally picked up the laptop to turn it around and forgot about the rechargeable battery which immediately turned off the computer.

I tried rebooting the computer again and it just turns on all lights with fan running and then few seconds later turns off and hearing a click sound that happens when you hard power it off (holding down the power button) and then repeats

What I tried already was resetting the power multiple times and also connecting with only AC adapter to no avail.

HP Pavilion Notebook 17: Hard drive on HP laptop not being detected

Hi I’m speaking on my boyfriend’s behalf because he’s currently working deep sea. He has a HP laptop and told me his hard drive was no longer being detected, the root of the problem is he didn’t dismount the hard drive before he has disconnected. I have no idea how many times his has happened. He has no internet connection strong enough to do anything with the laptop but needs the work on the hard drive.

i looked at a tutorial for the process in disk management and to fix the hard drive when it’s detected there and something about lettering? That wasn’t being detected here. My boyfriend said something comes up about partition recovery? Will this clear his laptop and Microsoft office?

Sorry to be vague with my questions

(HP pavilion a gold colour no actual clue what type.. he doesn’t even know)

Update (09/12/2018)

I just searched, HP 15-BW067SA AMD A9-9420 4GB 1TB 15.6 INCH WINDOWS 10 LAPTOP IN GOLD

Update (09/12/2018)

On the model It says ‘model 15-aw04sa’ it’s a HP Pavilion notebook
