HP EliteBook 850 G2: How can I reset BIOS password?

I have purchased a second-hand laptop and found the BIOS is password protected?

Is there a way to reset/remove BIOS password on this particular laptop?

I have tried removing CMOS battery but this has no effect (I believe BIOS password is held in NVRAM on this model).

HP say the only way to remove the BIOS password is to replace the motherboard which I am not willing to do as apart from being able to access the BIOS, the laptop is running fine.

HP EliteBook 850 G2: HP laptop overheating + BIOS warning “System Fan (90B)” — fan

Hi everyone, My HP laptop is overheating and on every boot I get a BIOS warning that says “System Fan (90B)” (cooling fan not operating correctly / not spinning at expected speed). The fan seems weak and sometimes doesn’t spin properly, so temperatures get high quickly.
