HP Elitebook 840 G8: Laptop won't start up after I opened the back

I shut my 840 G8 down. turned it over to open the back. I unscrewed the screws and gently pryed the back panel open. I pulled off the cover over the nvme ssd. All I wanted was to see how it looked like. After that I put the metal cover back over the ssd and put the back panel in place and screwed the screws in place.

After this the laptop won't start.

What can I have done?

My laptop turns on but does not display anything. Also has the caps lock led blinking 5 times. I have disconnected and drain residual power by pressing the power button for 30 seconds twice disconnect and connected the display cord from the screen still no display. I keenly a fixing support. My HP EliteBook 850G1 is over heating, it starts with HP logo showing and that loading circle spins the fan starts to spin faster but it doesn't boot to windows desktop. But at times it boots like nothing is wrong with it, but during normal use at times it goes blank with fan spinning very fast and shuts down.

I've checked the windows event viewer and found that excessive heat event is causing that, so I opened it checked the heat sink it was clean, I refreshed the thermo paste, cleaned the fan, which wasn't very dirty to began with, I used the thermo paste Maxtor CTG8 it's Thermal Conductivity is 12.8 W/m-k, Temperature Stability: -50C -+ 250C, Specific Gravity: 2.8g/cm3, any idea what's wrong?

I have purchased a second-hand laptop and found the BIOS is password protected?

Is there a way to reset/remove BIOS password on this particular laptop?

I have tried removing CMOS battery but this has no effect (I believe BIOS password is held in NVRAM on this model).

HP say the only way to remove the BIOS password is to replace the motherboard which I am not willing to do as apart from being able to access the BIOS, the laptop is running fine.

when i plug it in, power/charge light alternates between amber/orange and blue/white whilst the caps lock light glows. lasts a few seconds before going dark again. when i try to power it on when unplugged, the light just blinks orange/amber. is my laptop screwed up? power/mainboard issue? i cant even use this thing cause of what's been going on.

Hp elite book 830 G5 screen turns gray white or ash once the laptop experience some overheating. At first, it started with glitching screen and now I’ve lost it to ash gray white screen. You can use it from the start for about 10 -30mins or more and then puff, turns ash screen
