Google Pixel XL: Battery replacement failed to light screen

I bought the battery replacement kit and followed the directions. I practiced on another, identical, broken device, so was pretty familiar with the procedure when I got to the “real” phone.

It seemed that all went well. When I fired it up (before applying the final adhesive) I got no screen response. I charged it overnight for about 14 hours (no screen indicator during this time).

When I press and hold the power button I feel a haptic vibration. The vibration is very brief. That would seem to indicate that the battery is live and connected.

I don’t know what to do now.

Any thoughts?

Google Pixel XL: Headphone port damaged by headphone jack

My headphones' jack snapped/sheared while it was still connected to my pixel XL when it dropped to the floor, leaving the metal jack inside the headphone port. In my infinite wisdom, I managed to use an uncoiled paperclip to fish out the parts, and either the drop, or my attempted jack-removal damaged the port (at least, that's what I'm 90% sure is the case).

Now, when I plug a headphone jack in (and have tried numerous headphones), whenever the jack is twisted or moved around inside the port, music and podcasts stops/starts, volume changes, and google assistant tries to pop up.

There doesn't appear to be any other fault with the phone, and only occurs when I have a jack inserted, so I can only assume that the jack is the only thing damaged.

I contacted google about getting it repaired, however they have given an estimate of about £70 to fix it (not including £14.40 to ship it back to me).

I've contacted a number of other phone (and even specifically pixel) repair shops, but none of them have been able to offer their services (even the google chat-support asked if I could wait for him to check something because this isn't exactly a run-of-the-mill problem).

Does anyone know any way that I would be able to get the jack repaired? I've got no problem doing it myself (aside from not having the tools), but I didn't see any headphone jack part listed, so before I commit to just sending the phone back and dealing with whatever (imo slightly too costly) fee they charge I felt that I try and exhaust all alternatives.

Any help?

Thanks!

As an aside - I managed to get another lead for my headphones, so they 're fine (the broken lead however was not, and it was ultimatly much cheaper to buy a new one than fix the old).

Google Pixel XL: Help, phone won't turn on after daughterboard replacement

Hi all. So my Pixel XL had the well-chronicled microphone not working/no vibration combination that had become problematic enough I decided to swap out the daughterboard. I'd never opened a phone sealed with adhesive (previous phone repairs had clips) and while removing the screen worked the tool too deep and damaged the digitizer ribbon cable/cracked the screen. I ordered a new digitizer/screen assembly, replaced the daughterboard and screen and tried to fire up the phone but no luck.

Upon pressing the power button the phone makes the faint vibration sound it should when turning it on but there is no display and the phone doesn't appear to begin booting or anything (reminds me of starting a computer when the cpu's improperly seated). I realize this is difficult without seeing the phone but where should I start? I've already reseated all the connections I unplugged during the repair more than once. Thanks in advance for any help!

Google Pixel XL: Screen corner came off

Dear ifixit team,

I have just got my new pixel xl phone few days ago. I am enjoying it and it's an amazing phone.

Today I found the the top right corner of the screen is coming slightly off Like about 0.5 mm. Like the adhesive behind is getting little loose or it was not firmly pressed during manufacturing.

I cannot give the phone back as I am in UAE and I got it from UK and it will be a hassle sending it back all the way there.

It should not be hard to put a small amount of adhesive around under the screen in that section but I have never done it before. Any suggestions.

Google Pixel XL: Screen adhesive doesn't hold glass down... need suggestions

I replaced the screen in my daughter’s Google Pixel XL using a screen purchased by ifixit. The repair went well except that 1 corner (and a portion of 1 side) of the glass is lifting about 1mm. See the attached photo.
