Google Pixel XL: phone won’t turn on or display won’t come on.

i have a pixel xl and it was being used, but not frequently and spent a lot of time on the charger over the last year. i hadn’t looked at it in a few weeks and when i did the phone wouldn’t power on and the battery was bulding enough to push the display away from the frame a fair amount. i replaced the battery and after putting it back together it is still not coming on.

i’m trying to figure out a good way to troubleshoot this issue. could the buldging battery have damaged the lcd and/or backlighting? i’ve had buldging batteries in laptops and other phones before and they would turn off instantly if unplugged, but never fully unresponsive. with that and the phone not coming on now is why i’m wondering if maybe the display is damaged. another display is like $50 so i’d prefer to not have to do that, but i might not have a choice.

Google Pixel XL: Not booting, only vibrates one time. Battery replaced, no improvement.

My Pixel XL stopped booting a bit back, and given the battery decay (<50% life per accubattery) before it failed and it’s behaviour afterwards, the failure to boot being battery related seemed likely. Sadly, that doesn’t seem to have been the primary issue.

Swapping the battery didn’t change how the phone behaved since it started failing to boot. All the phone has done is vibrate once when holding the power button for long enough, or when held in combination with the volume button.

Still seems unlikely it’s the screen though as the fingerprint sensor doesn’t ever vibrate for failed reads like the phone has actually booted, and a computer never sees the phone.

It does seem like the new battery is at least charging as the upper part of the phone is getting warm whereas the previous battery had almost entirely stopped causing any heat when plugged in. So something’s happening, but I guess something more than the battery was broke, and I’m not sure how to narrow that down.

Google Pixel XL: What is the black pad/foil behind battery?

As shown in the Google Pixel XL Battery replacement guide, there is a black pad/foil between the battery and the body of the phone. It can be seen in the attached image.

What is this pad/foil? I accidentally put a rip in it while removing some adhesive from the phone’s body.

Is this something I should be concerned about?

Google Pixel XL: (SOLVED) The battery for the regular Pixel. Will it work on the XL?

I answered my own question by trying it: YES, it does work. With less capacity of course but it works. Phone started back, no problem.

Will it work? With reduced capacity of course (2770mAh instead of 3450mAh) or the sizes are too different. They look very similar:

Google Pixel XL: Screen flashing red up top for a while now

Okay so i got a Pixel XL from an auction lot and the first thing i did was to charge to see if there was any life. Sure enough a red flash was going off at the top of the screen but nothing has came out of it since the screen has been damaged when i got it.

However, i left it for charging for 3 hours now and it’s still flashing red. I can’t seem to figure out why it’s taking so long, could it be the battery or my charging port? I test out my cable from another phone so i know that wasn’t the issue. I tried turning it on but no sound plays and the flash keeps going. It stops flashing once i disconnect it but that’s all that i know about from this device. Tried connecting it to my PC, it doesn’t detect

What could be the cause from this?? Can anyone help me?
