Google Pixel 8a: Replacement Screen Cable Folded in Incorrect Location

I ordered a Google Pixel 8a Screen - Genuine (IF356-425-2) replacement for a cracked screen. Made it to Step 28 on the guide where fortunately everything appears to be working as expected when turned on. Unfortunately when dry fitting it seems the screen wants to sit about a quarter inch low on the frame because the screen cable ribbon appears to be folded in the incorrect spot. If I push the screen up to where it should sit, the ribbon keep the screen from sitting down onto the frame to attach (I have not tried removing the liners or force it).

I double checked the part numbers on the packaging and model number of my phone are expected, and I have reached out to ifixit support for a replacement.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it safe to try and fold / crease the ribbon in a different spot?

Phone refuses to charge, nothing happens even when left for 30 mins

pressed and held the power button for 30 secs and still no reaction

I've also done the following, cleaning tools compressed air and small soft brush.

Checked and cleaned cable connections

Checked phone connector and cleaned

New Google charger aquired.

is there a DIY solution or is it send to the manufacturer for repairs but being a cautious person would they have access to my apps for example banking stuff?
