Google Pixel 7 Pro: Fingerprint reader not working on new screen, how to troubleshoot?

I recently changed the screen of my Pixel 7 Pro, the display and the touch feature both work well; the fingerprint does not.

When I try to setup the Fingerprint Unlock android feature, I immediately get the following error on the Touch and hold the fingerprint sensor screen:

Fingerprint setup timed out
Fingerprint enrollment didn't work. Try again or use a different finger.

Things I tried but didn't fix the issue:

Ran the official repair app on: https://pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/carri... (after successfully pairing with my phone, the app displays an error stating that the software on my phone is newer than that of the tool and is unable to scan it).

Factory reset.

Re-opened the phone and double-checked the screen-to-frame connector.

Doubled-checked the sensor-to-screen connector (came installed but I disconnected and connected it back).

Downloaded and installed the Android USB driver for windows on my PC https://developer.android.com/studio/run...

Successfully ran the Update and Software Repair Tool on https://pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/udfps

None worked, however after doing point 6, the error message takes more time to appear.

Before the new screen I remember my screen would turn very bright white on and around the fingerprint sensor, now it doesn't.

I have the fingerprint sensor from my old screen ready to install on the new screen but before risking damaging the new screen, I thought I asked here:

Is there any other way to troubleshoot the fingerprint reader via software to be sure it's not working?

Google Pixel 7 Pro: Where does one get a replacement Gorilla Victus glass back cover?

It seems that iFixit and Google aren't supplying either the frame-and-back-glass assembly or the back glass itself.
Google Pixel 7 Pro: Replaced Pixel 7 pro screen and fingerprint reader not recognized

I replaced the screen on my Pixel 7 Pro, but the fingerprint reader appears to be non-responsive. I tried the troubleshooting guide, but I can't get to the screen to add fingerprints. I've rebooted several times, and tried the calibration reset twice, but it still doesn't show up.

Device Unlock only shows "Screen Lock" and "Face Unlock". There is no fingerprint unlock option displayed.

I search in the settings for "fingerprint", and find "Add fingerprint", but when I enter the requested security pin, it seems to crash and take me back to the search results.

Is my screen defective? Am I missing a step?

I've since found recommendations that I should have tried the fingerprint reader before securing the screen, but that doesn't help much now.

Update (09/03/24)

I contacted support and they're offering me a replacement or a refund. I bough a cheap replacement phone already, so I'm taking the refund and cutting my losses on this phone.

I took it to a repair store who replaced the glass with an after market replacement but the camera is now unable to focus.
Google Pixel 7 Pro: Screen replacement questions when running Graphene OS

Hello everyone,

I recently acquired a new screen to replace the broken one on my Pixel 7 Pro, but there are some things I'm worried about since I run Graphene OS on the phone. Although I don't think it would impact the process whatsoever, I thought I should ask anyway before the part arrives just in case:

When initially swapping to the new screen, it's stated not to touch it before the first boot for it to perform some extra calibration. Does it actually need to boot into the stock OS for this calibration to be done? Or does the calibration happen before booting into the OS altogether?

After installing the screen, I will need to go through the whole fingerprint calibration process. Can that be reliably done when using a custom OS? I've seen some posts around of some managing to do it, but when people are having trouble with this process even with the stock OS, I honestly have no idea.

This third one is more of a general question, but when testing out the fingerprint calibration tool at pixelrepair.withgoogle.com, it asks me for a country and carrier. Although I bought the phone in the US, it's not carrier-locked. Which option should be chosen in this case? US -> Other? Other?

Although there's nothing critical on the phone that would prevent me from factory resetting it, I'd rather not go through that unless necessary.

Thanks in advance.
