Google Pixel 6a: fingerprint reader not working after screen replacement

I replaced the screen using the official ifixit screen with the integrated fingerprint reader.

after replacing the screen, the fingerprint function was not working.

if I try to enroll a new fingerprint, I get a prompt saying the phone can't use the fingerprint sensor and to take it for repair. it also included a link to "http://g.co/pixel/fingerprintunlock" which just redirects to google's docs on using the fingerprint reader.

I tried this tool: https://pixelrepair.withgoogle.com/ and after rebooting, I no longer get the prompt and can get to the enroll fingerprint stage, but it still fails to read my fingerprint; i get 'couldn't process fingerprint' no matter what finger or direction i press.

any assistance or insight would be appreciated.

Google Pixel 6a: Pixel 6a replacement screen has a green hue

Hi,

I bought my pixel 6a screen replacement kit in November, but I was really busy for two months and I was able to do it just now. So when I replaced the display, by the way, it was really easy, I get a green hue when the brightness is set to 80% or higher. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to calibrate my Pixel 6a after replacement?

Google Pixel 6a: Can't even start opening the screen

Hello,

I got the Pixel 6a screen replacement kit, but no matter what I do or how I hold it, I can't get the screen to even start separating. I've tried heating the edge, I've tried the blue tabs, I've even tried supergluing the suction cup to the screen, but that didn't even stay.

What am I doing wrong? All of the instructions and videos made it look so simple.

Google Pixel 6a: Is the eSIM carrier locked after SIM unlocking?

I have a Pixel 6a I originally bought for parts due to a financing issue mentioned in the listing (to fix an unlocked 6a that had a broken screen) at the time the screen was out of stock. I got it for parts since it was cheap because these never last with a active balance as nobody ever pays them off after sale so they get blocked in 60 days or so (so far 90 days on this so I think I got lucky).

Because the phone is so new and was worth unlocking I verified the financial status with T-Mobile before I put it in the parts bin. I was told the IMEI was clear so I got it setup on my 2nd phone number and did the 14-day/$100 balance unlock process. The physical SIM is confirmed to be unlocked, but I am still seeing the same restrictions as when it was locked with the eSIM:

T-Mo 6a (T-Mobile ROM, Sprint supported):

Factory unlocked P7 (Google ROM, TNX required for Sprint accounts):

My P7 is a "virgin" in the sense it was never carrier locked as it was sold factory unlocked, but this 6a still appears to have the eSIM locked down while my 7 shows all of the current US carriers except Sprint being TNX only.

I put a dead AT&T test SIM in it and it took it so I can indeed confirm the physical SIM is unlocked and I no longer get the carrier not supported error on the physical SIM, but the eSIM only shows T-Mobile/Sprint, even after getting it unlocked but without the carrier not supported error. Normally unlocked Pixels show AT&T/T-Mobile/Verizon/Sprint/Fi (TNX optional) or AT&T/T-Mobile/Verizon/Fi (TNX REQUIRED), not just the original carrier. I can also toggle the bootloader unlock option which is normal when the SIM lock is gone or never existed*.

*Outside of Verizon on some? A lot of Verizon Pixels are perma locked :(.

Is my eSIM still "locked" or is this just a nuisance which will not cause issues due to the original carrier? It still happens after a factory reset, but showed me AT&T/T-Mobile/Verizon/Sprint/Fi at the OOBE setup (which was done to ensure the unlock was permanent and fully settled, but not required).

Google Pixel 6a: Phone screen is tinted yellow, depending on brightness

Repaired my cracked phone screen on my pixel 6a. The touch screen works, the fingerprint sensor works after calibration.

The issue is that the white balance is off, at high brightness everything is very clearly tinted yellow and at low brightness everything has a redy blue hue. Inbetween it still isn't correct when compared to a laptop or another phone.

I've gone through the display settings and night time screen settings making sure that there's no odd settings on and I'm fairly sure it's all fine. I also factory reset the phone which didnt help either.

When powering off the phone and it dims out, there seems to be a second of good white balance and when swipping down from the top the notification bar has good white balance too, its most glaring when looking at an entirely white screen with text or something.

I'm wondering if this could be a faulty part or if my phone's been damaged by having a broken screen (it oozed that weird blue ink under the glass) for a month or so before fixing.

Thanks for any help, there's a picture at the bottom.

Rory
