Google Pixel 6a: Touch sometimes not working after screen replacement

Hello.

Just replaced my screen and when I try to unlock it, touch not working so I need to press power button couple times and then it starts working. Once unlocked, it's working fine.

I'm thinking the problem is related to proximiter sensor.

This is ideal camera frame placement. But mine isn't aligned well with the hole, like for 1-2mm vertical shift. Probably bad screen copy. I wonder if it's the issue?

Also, there is little optical thing inserted in that camera frame, maybe I should glue it to the screen too?

Anyway, if you think the problem is in misalignmnent, can I cut screen coverings so I can enlarge camera hole?

Google Pixel 6a: Proximity sensor not found after replacing a water damaged display

After replacing a display with water damage, the proximity and light sensors are not working any more. Device Info HW and Proximity Test apps say no sensor found for both proximity and light. I made sure that the rubber seal was on the sensor before glueing the display. Unfortunately, I did not test the proximity sensor before glueing the display so I can't easily double-check. There seem to be no other issues (front and both rear cameras, speakers, microphone, vibration, calibrated fingerprint sensor and other sensors work fine). Does anyone have any idea what I can try?

Google Pixel 6a: Pixel 6a screen replacement failed - black screen

I replaced my Pixel 6a screen because I'd cracked my screen.
I followed the written instructions, but it didn't work. The screen is black.

When powering on, I feel the vibration, but nothing on the screen.

The video is a bit of a joke, edited to appear "fast and easy" when actually there is plenty of detail they could have included.

I tried reconnecting my old screen, but now that is black too.

Very disappointed :(
Help appreciated!

Google Pixel 6a: After replacing the battery, the screen went blank.

I followed the guide(Google Pixel 6a Battery Replacement) to replace the battery on my Pixel 6A.

When I pressed the power button, I felt a slightly loud vibration (maybe because Android was starting up).

However, nothing was displayed on the screen, and when I pressed the power button after that, there was only a small vibration.

One thing that bothers me is that when removing the display, the flex cable was scratched, causing copper powder to form.

It was a small scratch so I didn't think it would have any effect.

Will replacing the display solve the problem?

Google Pixel 6a: Which cable is for which antenna?

Hey folks

I would like to build a PRVCY phone out of the Pixel 6A and wanted to know which of the small signal cables are for which technology?

I've like to disable the cellular and only use WiFi (and/or possibly a USB-Data connection or mobile NIC). Now as it's likely not easily possible to overall shutdown the cellular modem, which would be the best and also further contribute to power saving, I might have to disable or take out the cellular signal connection towards all cellular antennas.

Also assuming the cellular antennas itself, are inside the frame and again itself can't be removed.

QUESTIONS:

Which chip is the cellular modem or is it only integrated into the SoIC (main CPU Chip)?

Can it somehow be disabled or power cut from it?

Which of the small signal cables are for cellular (and are some shared for Wi-Fi/BT?

Which of the connection points in the back plane are for the cellular antennas and are these fully dedicated for cellular or (partly) shared for Wi-Fi and or Bluetooth use?

Additonal questions:

Which orhter phone repair / mods forum ist good for questions like that?

Where do you get replacement parts for the Pixcel phones (besides AliExpress where you find a lot)? Can only official repair shops get (official) replacement parts?

Thanks,
Norb

Google Pixel 6a: 3 microphones or only 2 and where is the 3rd one?

Moin fixers and phone freaks!

I wanted to remove the microphones of my Pixcel 6A and wanted to check:

Does the phone really has 3 microphones, including the (noise cancellation?) mic on top (attached to flex cable of the LED flash) and if yes, where is 3rd one located?

I've easily able to remove the main lower mic (mainboard) and the mic on the very top mounted to the side case.

But based on one of the tear down YT videos I thought there is a 3rd one close to the proximity sensor and while trying to remove that one I've broken that case and probably the main SMD component below that shielding.
(it looks like a bigger microphone, as it also has one small hole, but it seems it's not).

Of course now I'm wondering: When that wasn't the microphone, which I think it's not, is that the barometric sensor, or what is it?

PS. I'd love to attach picture of it, but it seems not possible to add pictures here.

Lastly, does anyone know the best phone mode and repair forum for things like identification of hardware components on the mainboard?

PPS. I also have additional questions, on the antennas, which I'll create a separate question for.

PPPS. Removing the Fingerprint Reader is also easy, just unclip it's small connector.

Google Pixel 6a: Lines across my lcd even after fix

Hi,

I've replaced my lcd (pixel 6a) due to vertical lines appearing across the screen. At first they would disappear when firmly pressing the lower part of the screen but gradually more started to appear.

The replacement screen fixed the issue for about two weeks but now they are starting to form again.

Could there be something else wrong with my phone? Anyone have any insight?

Thanks,

P.S what are the little silvery connecting pads that touch the big silvery patch at the back of the lcd? could thy not be touching right and cause this issue?

Google Pixel 6a: Non call related audio sounds muffled while on a call

Whenever I'm in any kind of phone call (cellular, Discord, Zoom, Skype, Google Meet, etc.) all of my phone's other audio sounds super muffled. For example: I just got off of a Discord call, and for about 45 seconds after I hung up, my music streaming app sounded like it had the same audio compression as the call, until it just suddenly popped back to normal. This happens no matter what, but Discord specifically causes it to persist for a while after the call ends. This has happened to me with every Android device I've owned, and I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me as to why this occurs and/or tell me any ways to fix it, settings I can change, etc. Thanks!
