Google Pixel 6: Pixel 6: Can't use fingerprint after screen replacement.

So I just replaced my Pixel 6's screen via the IFixIt repair kit (btw, this was way easier than expected, so that's a win). However, I can no longer use the fingerprint reader.

If I go to set it up I get an error message: "Can't use fingerprint sensor. Visit a repair provider or g.co/pixel/fingerprintunlock".

That website was seemingly irrelevant and definitely unhelpful :).

Google Pixel 6: Long term battery storage

I have had my pixel 6 for since 2021 and I love my phone. It hasn't slowed down for me at all and besides the battery swelling up and a cracked screen of my own blunder.

I have since then bought a replacement screen and a replacement battery and i feel as if I'm using a completely brand new phone. I want to buy additional screen and battery to keep for the long run (maybe 10 years of use) before I buy another phone.

What do you guys think the best long term storage of Lithium ion batteries for phones are? I heard some people say leave it at 50% and store room temp. Ive read others store it at 4*C.

If i do need to recharge the battery once in awhile, is there a tool I can use to do this without taking my original phone apart?

I also plan to buy a replacement screen to act as a back up incase i break it again and it is no longer being manufactured; are there specific storage quirks that are associated with storinge phone displays over time?

I ordered a replacement screen for my pixel 6 (without frame as the one with frame was out of stock) I therefore also ordered the frame only in case I needed it. In taking the smashed screen off old phone both screen and it's frame is no good. My question is how to I go about putting the new screen and new frame on the phone. Do I attach the frame to screen first and if so how?

Google Pixel 6: New LCD Screen (with frame) - can't install

I purchased a new LCD screen for my pixel 6. I got the one advertised as 'with frame'. I realize now that the screen that i took off the phone came out without the said frame. What is the approach I should take - can I remove the frame that is within the phone along the sides or do i remove the frame from the new screen (which doesn't appear easy). What approach is best/possible? If i can remove the old frame from the phone does the new screen with the frame just click in at that point?

Google Pixel 6: Phone dead / rebooting after a small drop

Hello everyone,

my phone dropped about 40cm off of my couch and has been behaving very strangely since. Immediately after the drop the phone died. Its screen turned black and it wouldn’t turn back on. When it’s attached to a charger via cable it shows the colorful google logo and then just bootloops. If you hold a button during this process the phone will do nothing. When it’s on a wireless charger it shows the colorful google logo, shows that it’s charging and the battery percentage, and then it turns off. I’m honestly puzzled as to what’s going on with my device. Any advice would be appreciated.

Google Pixel 6: Extremely dim screen after replacement

Hello!

I replaced the display assembly and battery on my Pixel 6 today, and after putting it back together, the display is extremely dim. It almost looks like a dead backlight on an LCD screen. Touch works fine, battery works fine, but it's extremely dim. I tried replacing the old display (I believe only the glass was cracked), but it had the same issues. What could be the possible cause of this? Could it be caused by the battery replacement? Did I scratch something on the connector?

Google Pixel 6: How to Reattach Display Frame?

Hello!

Had a swollen battery and replaced it with the kit just fine. My issue is that the swelling separated the screen from the plastic frame, so that's fully separated now. What adhesive can I use to reattach this frame? The adhesive that came with the battery kit attaches to this frame, not the screen itself, so I think the right adhesive matters. Replacement screens already have the frame attached.

Google Pixel 6: Pixel 6 screen popping out from the left edge.

Hi, i have a strange issue with my pixel 6 screen. It keeps popping out from the left edge. I tried to use the genuine adhesive and super glue t7000 but no luck, always the same results. The battery is located at the right, it's flat and was changed recently. Looks like something is pushing the screen from the left. The middle frame, which contains clippers, is stacked with no issue, just the screen is out.

Any suggestions?

Google Pixel 6: Battery drain after replacement

Hi there,

The factory battery of my Pixel 6 (not pro or other, the 6) was getting bad, not lasting all the day anymore.

I purchased a new one and proceeded to replacement. But since then, it is worse than before (with a battery which is supposed to be brand new).

Of course we first think the battery is a bad one (cool, i lost money ! ) but, i wonder if that could be a software problem.

isn't that possible the new battery is not setted up properly, or the phone system cannot calculate the battery capacity well ?

i noticed something interesting : my phone is slow (not very much but enough to be spotted) when fully charged. The display animations are lagging, typing text is worse than usual, not precise, not always understanding which key i press etc. When the battery is close to 0%, everything is back to normal. The phone is much faster, precise etc.

this is what makes me think it is a software problem.

i want to be sure what exactly the problem is, before buying a new battery.

Any clue could help me

thank you !

Google Pixel 6: Display does not respond to touch

Phone was dropped, then the touchscreen became intermittently non-responsive. Applying pressure to the sides of the device or providing some flex would get touch functionality to restore for a while. Eventually even this stopped working and the touch functionality stopped working entirely although the display itself is still perfect.

I figured this must be a screen issue though I dont understand why only touch would fail and not display; so I ordered a replacement screen and hooked it up to test but again have the same issue, display works perfect with no touch input being accepted. I inspected the connector/board for the display and don't see anything wrong (although I dont have magnification). I cleaned the board side of the connector with 90% IPA though it made no difference.

Anyone have an idea of what to look for? I understand I will most likely need a new phone at this point but I'm still interested in what went wrong.
