Google Pixel 4a: How to turn phone off with broken screen and digitizer.

I have a screen repair kit coming from ifixit and want to be sure the phone is off before I open it up. Pressing and holding the power button seems to just force the phone to restart, not turn off. I know it's on as it dings when I connect it to a computer. I assume it's stuck on the lock screen as you can't use the fingerprint scanner on initial log. Anyone with a 4a able to try this out and let me know what works? Thanks in advance.

Google Pixel 4a: Is there any information for replacing just the glass over the screen?

Ive noticed searching for “Screen”. I can run across “screen protectors” (obviously not the right thing) or “replacing the screen” as in the lcd panel. What about just replacing the cracked glass over the LCD panel. If there is no info here, what should I call the glass?

Google Pixel 4a: Water detected in usb port

Hi, my pixel 4a got dropped into a toilet (briefly lol) and it seemed fine after. However, it soon gave me the “water in usb port” message and wouldn't charge. So I left it alone and, unfortunately, did not turn it off and the battery went dead. Now it has been 3 days and it still won't take a charge. It does go to the recovery selection screen if it's plugged in and I hold power and down, but it turns off withing 5-10 seconds or if I select any options.

Summary:

Water detected at usb port but still working

Battery died and it turned off on its own

Boots to recovery mode selection screen but shuts off when any selection is made

So the question is: will taking it apart and cleaning up the usb port have a chance at success? Or will I have to replace the battery as well as it may have depleted too far?

Thank you for any and all advice

Google Pixel 4a: did I kill my phone by warming it?

I dropped my Pixel 4a in water, then turned it back on too soon. It turned itself off, then got very hot to the touch. I used metal to act as a heat sink until it cooled down. After that, it went into a zip lock bag of rice. I ended up wrapping the bag of rice in a heating pad on low on and off for a few hours at a time until no condensation showed in the forward camera (a little over 2 days). Plugged the phone in to charge, and nothing. won't power up. no sign of life.

Is it worth trying to replace the battery, or are the electronics fried? I took the screen off, all looks normal. I don't have the correct bit to check any deeper in the phone. Help!

Google Pixel 4a: Sim card not recognized

About 7 months ago my Pixel 4a would intermittently stop recognizing the SIM card. Initially a reset would solve the problem, then when resetting wouldn't fix it, ejecting and reinserting the SIM card would; now that doesn't work either. I've replaced the SIM card and it didn't solve the issue.

I saw the post about the iPhone's sim reader issue, but I did not see a similar copper bar on the teardown video for the Pixel 4a.

Google Pixel 4a: Multi Touch doesn't always work Pixel 4a replacement screen

Hi,

I just replaced the screen of my Google Pixel 4a smartphone. It seemed to be running fine, but from time to time, the multi-touch feature of the screen stops working. I get stuck with single touch capability (one finger a a time). Then, after some time, it starts working again.

Using "developer options", I managed to confirm that the screen only detects one finger (while it detects up to 10 at a time when everything works fine).

It does that during continuous usage session of the phone and screen. It sometimes works fine for several minutes, and sometimes for a few seconds only.

Turning off and on again the display doesn't fix it. Rebooting the phone doesn't fix it. I reset completely the phone by reflashing the official Rom, then another LineageOS Rom, it didn't fix the problem.

What would you try to fix that ?

I fear it comes from a hardware failure. Is there a way to contact iFixIt to get a free replacement screen ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello, i've got two pixel 4a phones, one with a broken microphone (outputs a loud cracking sound), and another with a scracked screen (a small crack along the bottom edge).

I would like to swap the microphone from the phone with the cracked screen, but i'm affraid that in doing so i would have to buy a new screen for the donor phone.

I don't need the screen replaced, as the phone isn't used daily, and it isn't worth the cost, but it would be nice if it wast still working after the fact.
