Google Pixel 4 XL: The Wierd Bluetooth Glitch.

Hello Fellow Repairers.

My google pixel 4xl has beein acting very wierd lately as it exhibits so many problems including the popular wierd greenish screen, i think its because of its old age but the one thing that stands out its the phones' Bluetooth conectivity and transmission'

IT'S so hard to explain but let me try;

The bluetooth is hard to connect and when it finally does connect to a device , it starts acting glitchy and transmission is kind of slow and when its connected to a device , i cannot move the phone around because when i do that( lemme take connecting to a headphone for example) , its just start glitching like its loosing connectivity and music playback is just....... Wierd.

The problem is just unpredictable because sometimes even if the connected device is ON THE PHONE or reverse, '''' it still glitches. The glitchy transmission is like a BROKEN CABLE barely holding that can disconnect if someone shakes or wiggles it.

I took it to a repair shop and they said they don't have the resources to fix such a problem. I too have tried everything like hard reseting, booting the phone on safe mode to reset network and wireless coneectivity options like so many time to no avail. Wanted to wipe cache and data but those options were greyed out. I would really like to hear some ideas, tips or solutions on this.

The weird part is It when the power is held down, the screen will turn onto the startup screen it then will proceed through the startup process for as long as the power button is held down and then turn off when either it would normally go to the home screen ,roughly 12 seconds, or when the power button is released any ideas why it will stay on for that extra time if the power button is held down

Google Pixel 4 XL: Question Mark Battery Indicator

Hello,

I just replaced my battery this weekend. I have followed the battery calibration included with the instructions. However after the initial charge the battery indicator was displaying a question mark. I restarted the device and didn't think about it again. Then I used the phone until it died. I charged it fully again and today (day 2 after battery replacement) the question mark is back and won't disappear after restarting the phone.

Is the new battery defective or is there something else going on? Thanks in advance.

Update (08/08/24)

Okay so here is what is happening. The battery cable will not stay seated in the power on the MB. The screw at the top of the bracket will not work anymore because the part it screws into is broken. Is there any type of electronic glue that could be used to keep the battery plugged in or a way to fix the screw?

Google Pixel 4 XL: Extreme green tint - Pixel 4 XL

I recently bought a broken Pixel 4 XL on eBay to see if I could repair it. I did it for the fun of it and to learn something, I've already got a couple working phones so my hopes and dreams aren't hinging on this one device. The issue with this Pixel device was a strong green tint. I did some research before pouring my money into this project, and it looks to be a fairly common issue with these devices, which is more or less a software glitch.

However, upon receiving the device, it appears the issue with this Pixel 4 XL is slightly different. The device does indeed have a green tint, however, its different from the green tint issues most Pixel 4 XL owners have reported, because unlike what's commonly reported, my Pixel's green tint stays consistent across the whole brightness spectrum, whereas most users report the green tint being more apparent at lower brightness. Some Pixel 4 XL users have reportedly fixed the issue by turning off the 90Hz refresh rate, night light, or always-on display, but for me, toggling these settings haven’t done squat. Also, Google has supposedly fixed the issue with a software update (as it was a software glitch) in early 2020, but I'm on build 220405.003 of Android 12. Now there are things I've noticed about this green tint issue that are uncharacteristic of what most other Pixel 4 XL owners have experienced, such as areas on the display that should be displayed as black are instead green. For this reason, while I am a big fan of dark mode, I haven't used it on the Pixel 4 XL because in essence its looks more like ‘green mode' on this particular device. I'll include some photos to demonstrate what I mean.

In all the above images, the green areas should’ve been displayed as black.

Something else I've noticed too is that the display looks kinda "milky", in other words, its not clear and crisp like you'd normally expect:

The images don’t seem to do justice, but trust me, there is a slight green tint. Plus you can notice the display doesn’t look crisp and clear like the Samsung.

I have tried factory resetting the device numerous times, none of that seemed to help. I thought it might be the display, so I grabbed another broken Pixel 4 XL that I had on hand and swapped the motherboards, but the issue persisted across two different displays. I installed the CleanSlate kernel by tbalden, as this custom kernel has a degreenify feature, but while that helped a little bit, its not fixed it, there is still too much green.

I've come to the conclusion that the issue is not with the display, but with the motherboard, either software or hardware. Anyone have any ideas where specifically the issue may be or a possible resolution?

Thanks in advance!

Google Pixel 4 XL: How long does the battery bought from ifixit which says genuine last?

So I had a battery error issue with the pixel 4xl after 3 years and the battery purchased from Ifixit was helpful since it was the most trusted site, I guess, I could find and it lasted about 5 and a half months then it started to show error again. Is this normal or another business ploy to keep hooking customers like subscribers?
