Google Pixel 3: Pixel 3 only charging one way round

About a year ago my pixel suddenly stopped charging and recognizing any devices on type c. I wiped the port with isopropyl alcohol and cleaned it. After which it began to charge, but only one way round. Charging, as well as type c headphones and other devices, work only on one side of the port. I tried resetting the phone to factory settings, but it didn't change anything. I changed the battery because it was in bad condition and also replaced the type c board. This also did not change anything. Of course, it is time to change the phone, but for now I use it as is and I would like to know what wrong with it anyway. I also attach a screenshot of the message that appears every time I connect something to the port with the broken side.

Google Pixel 3: Pixel 3 GPS no longer works

i,

I've got a battered and bruised Pixel 3 that's still holding onto dear life. It is a pixel that's been through a fair few replacement parts

My most recent problem is with the GPS, not sure at what point it stopped working, but I have the following problem:

- GPS does not work with the device only (tried with the "GPS Status" app

- GPS works when connected to the Internet and location is on (not sure exactly why/how)

Upon opening the phone I found one of the 2 coaxial cables looks damaged, with a few minor kinks/breaks, could this be the reason the GPS is not working? Or are the cables not important for GPS (wifi and Bluetooth still work when cables are disconnected).

If the cables aren't the issue, I'd like to know where the GPS hardware is located, and if it's possible to get a replacement (if it's not in the main board)

Update: I have replaced the coaxial cables however this has not made a difference to the device GPS

Thank you

Google Pixel 3: New charging assembly unresponsive to USB-C cord

My old Pixel 3 never had any repairs done. Just bought my first iFixIt kits: battery & charging assembly. I used them both at the same time to replace both.

Now I am about to seal my phone back up with everything screwed in and I booted the phone up to test it.. it's able to charge wirelessly perfectly fine and load Android but the USB port is completely unresponsive to charging. (note: I also lost the tiniest screw and attachment on the left side of the phone that holds the speaker in place but I don't think that would be too relevant as long as everything else is secured properly. I have a feeling it might be the cable you plug in for the charging assembly on the right underneath the wireless charging piece.)

(also note that this phone had the same problem of being unable to charge via USB-C and only by Qi before I attempted this repairs. It's possible there's another damaged part but I'm not sure where to look & this phone has never been opened before.)

Please give me some ideas for what/how to check! I've already taken it halfway apart again to make sure all cables are securely plugged in but this is my first repair so I can't be certain.

Thanks :)

My phone died a year ago, woke up in the morning and it wouldn't turn on, but would get warm when left to charge. I figured it was the battery as it wasn't holding much of a charge anyway. I just put in a new battery in hopes it would work for my daughter to use it. I haven't fully sealed it back together, as I wanted to check it first, it's still doing the same thing. I've never replaced a battery before, so maybe I did something wrong?

Battery icon is not on when charging.

However - if I turn it off and connect the charger, it does turn on.

Can't connect it to my Mac either.

Google Pixel 3: Pixel 3 - No signs of life after battery replacement. What to check?

Hello! I just finished installing a new battery into my Pixel 3, but unfortunately am not seeing any signs of life. No vibrations, no screen activity (with/without charger), all while trying different button combos. The old battery wasn't really holding a charge very well but the phone did work. I've reconnected everything 3 times, nothing looks torn or damaged on the phone. The old battery did get its connector damaged during removal so I cannot test with that one.

What would y'all recommend I try next? How can I tell if the new battery is DOA?

Google Pixel 3: How do I confirm the motherboard is dead?

My Pixel 3 was suddenly dead. At first, I thought it was a battery issue. Unluckily, there is no charging icons after battery replacement, no matter wired or wireless charging. I know it's less likely that both charging units malfunction at the same time. However, I've found that the motherboard seems to have response to wireless charging. My Pixel Stand 2 has charging response as well. The part marked in blue of the motherboard seems warmer than before charging.

Google Pixel 3: Pixel 3 Battery Connector Broken in Socket

After replacing the battery with one from iFixit, it worked beautifully for two months. Three weeks ago, it began to power cycle with every bump the phone endured and so I opened it up and it appears that the battery connector does not seat and stay in the phone. I believe this to be because the actual male connector is still in the socket and no longer attached to the ribbon cable. I am attaching photos to confirm this before attempting to extract this part to salvage the phone. Please advise on repair options. I will attach photos of the current condition (in the best resolution my old tablet can handle)

Google Pixel 3: New Battery, previously working phone, heats circuits but no display

I bought a new battery and back for my Pixel 3, and installed per the directions. Before putting the back on with the fingerprint sensor and charging coil, I thought I’d test it without those 2 parts. There was no display visible, whether by trying to turn it on or by plugging in a charging cable. The concerning thing is that it heats up the large metal part on the circuit board, so the battery is draining with no display visible before trying to turn it on, with or without the charging cable. Has anyone ever experienced this? Where is the most likely short?

Google Pixel 3: Replacement USB-C port: no audio, and one way cable orientation issues

Hi All,

I recently replaced the battery and usb port on my pixel 3 using the IFIXIT kits.

-Battery: old one was draining very rapidly

-USB port: old one was no longer working for audio (tested with usbc-aux dongle, and directly with usbc pixel buds)

Results:

-Battery is only slightly better, so I have to assume there is another hardware or software issue here

But I have a more specific question about the USB-C port:

Question 1:

The replacement port also does not transmit audio, adjusting usb settings in the developer options menu did not fix this. Restarting didn’t help, and would try a factory reset but hesitant unless anyone else has had success. Any ideas?

Question 2:

USB charging worked with the new replacement immediately, but now, after 3 days, I can only charge with one orientation of the charging cables (tried 3 different cables, all only work in one orientation). I doubt this could be damage to the port so soon after replacement. Has anyone else experienced this and any ideas for a fix?

Thanks for reading.
