Google Pixel: Data Recovery on Pixel 6 with broken display after drop

Outline of information:

Dropped my Pixel 6 and the screen has completely gone black.

I tried doing some random button combination things (like the bootloader option thingy) to see if I could force it to shut down through those menus at least.

I fear I might've completely reset the phone by accident but don't know how to confirm it.

These are the behaviours I've got noted here:

- Plugging in the phone to charge vibrates the phone accordingly

- Vibration motor works

- Camera shortcut (double press off button) doesn't work (doesn't vibrate like normal)

- Pressing the power button and the volume up button does a short vibration which I believe is the silent mode physical shortcut

- Speakers and microphone worked (accidentally called emergency services LMAO)

- No HDMI output even when assisted with power delivery simultaneously

- Plugging in phone to charge makes bottom left of phone warm (same area as the crack on the screen)

- Phone isn't recognised over USB on Linux or MacOS via the normal operating system nor is it recognised over ADB (I had it set up with ADB for apps like scrcpy)

- scrcpy doesn't see the phone

Next steps and ideal goals/outcomes:

My ideal goal would be to recover the app data from it but the first step is to see if I accidentally reset the %#*@ thing.

I would appreciate the help to know what beviours I could look for to see if I've got it booted to the new setup screen. I think the double press to start camera shortcut not vibrating like normal is a sign that I might've just killed my own phone without realising it. :(

Google Pixel: Google Pixel - bad battery, bad screen, or bad motherboard?

Plugging in the Pixel causes the notification light to blink a few times after a long dormancy. Holding down the power button causes the phone to vibrate once. Connecting to a Windows 10 fails to elicit a reaction from the phone or from Windows. There are no visible cracks on the screen and it never lights up.

I don't know how else to pinpoint the working condition of the battery, screen, and motherboard.

Google Pixel: [General] How can I fully drain every scrap of power from my phone?

[General] How can I fully drain every scrap of power from my phone?

More of a general question for all phones.

Context

I have an OG Google Pixel 1 that one day randomly hard bricked itself. Shows up as QUSB_BULK in device manager.

The situation

The phone is in an extremely low level Qualcomm mode. This can be caused by:

- Actual physical hardware issue (will likely never get past this) such as memory dying

- A bad software update (known issue for some Pixel updates)

- Random

It's possible it could be either of the last two reasons - so you can attempt to reboot out of this low level mode.

However, the only way to do so is to drain the power completely and I mean COMPLETELY - so NO reserve/backup/emergency power - every single SCRAP has to be removed.

This can be done by disconnecting the battery, however you have to go through the screen to disassemble the phone to get to it - high risk of breakage.

Thus, I want to try and achieve this without disassembling the phone.

More Context

- My phone bricked in August 2020. It was charged a bit just after this event.

- It was never charged from then until I think about a year later (2021), when I charged it for around 20 minutes to try to revive it.

- Since then, the phone has not been charged (currently it is October 2022)

- Holding down the power button or any button combo shows no sign of life.

- Also, I've tried every combination of holding buttons (Power/Volume Up & Down, for varying lengths of time 1s to 10mins)

I heard that assuming the battery is fully discharged, I can ensure there is no reserve power by holding the power button for 10 seconds.

My questions

1. Is that actually true - will this eliminate all power from the battery and thus board?

2. If not, how can I achieve this?

I want to be absolutely sure that I have done all the right steps in removing all power from the board and battery, without actually disconnecting the battery itself, considering that it hasn't been charged in a year, before I try again now in October 2022 to revive it again.

All help appreciated.

Google Pixel: mobile network connection disconnects as though I had taken the SIM ou

Just got my Pixel yesterday, and I'm having a problem I can't seem to solve. Every 5 minutes or so, the mobile network connection disconnects as though I had taken the SIM out. Then it reconnects again immediately. It causes messenger to fail to send SMS messages, and causes chrome to stop loading pages if that's what it was doing. Everything goes back to normal as soon as it reconnects.

I tried rebooting, I tried removing and reinserting the SIM, but no dice. I'm with PC Mobile in Canada, which uses the Talus network.

Any ideas?

Google Pixel: Where is the GPS Antenna located on the Pixel1?

I have 2 first gen Pixel’s that are both running Android 10. The GPS on one is completely shot. It is not a software issue. I can side load a fresh install to both and use the same account with the issues being limited to the one device. I want to try replacing the GPS antenna when I replace the battery, but I do not know if it’s located on the motherboard or if it is pin-pad connected to the back of the case.
Google Pixel: Display works but touchscreen stops working after being inserted

Hi, I broke the display doing a battery replacement on my Pixel. After replacing the battery and connecting the new display, it either doesn’t work until I reseat the connector (or sometimes all connectors), stops working after a while even sitting outside the phone, or stops working when I install it with adhesive. The system also reboots constantly about 25% of the times that the touchscreen stops. Phone is otherwise responsive and can be unlocked with fingerprint. I’m not sure if the display is faulty or if it’s something I’m doing wrong. The touchscreen generally stops working when I put pressure on the bottom half of the screen to install it. Then I can sometimes reseat the display connector and it will work, but other times I need to reseat all of the motherboard connectors too. Rebooting has fixed the issue a couple of times but I’m not sure if something moved slightly when I rebooted it to fix the issue. Any help would be appreciated, I’m hoping it’s just a faulty display and I can replace it because I have no idea what the problem could be otherwise.

I should also mention that I’ve factory reset the phone and the issue persists, and that from what I can see all of the pins are fine, although I wouldn’t be surprised if they weren’t after the amount of times I’ve connected the display. It also seems to have lost the ability to fast charge if that’s relevant.

Cheers

Google Pixel: Phone won't turn on after battery replacement

After following the guide on iFixit to replace the battery on my Pixel, I drained the new battery to 0% for calibration. I then plugged the device in overnight to allow it a full charge.

On initial plug-in, a red LED blinks three times, then the charge animation displays for a few seconds before the screen goes black.

When I attempted to power the device on this morning, it got to the Pixel logo and powered back off. It'll boot into bootloader and recovery for a short time before dying as well.

What I've tried:

Two known working charging bricks with USB-C to USB-C cables.

USB-A to USB-C cable on a 5v 1a charging port.

USB-A to USB-C cable on a 5v 2.1a charging port.

Blew out the charging port with compressed air (wasn't dirty to begin with, but wanted to eliminate that).

Double checked all connectors when re-assembling the device - mother/daughter cable is installed correctly and there are no loose ribbons.

Outside of a damaged charging port during battery replacement, is there anything else that might cause this?

Any thoughts on what else I can try?

Google Pixel: Pixel have No Signal, says Radio Off.

One day it just stopped working. I couldn't recall any possibility in between that might cause it. Didn't drop the phone, didn't install any new app, no firmware or security updates. Nothing. It just suddenly stopped getting phone signals. Wifi still works, though.

I have tried everything that came out with my google search regarding no signal / radio off on pixel devices:

Put my sim card in another phone. It works.

Try another sim card in my pixel. Doesn't work.

Restarted the phone. Nothing.

Turned it off, and on again. Also in safe mode. Nothing.

Dialed *#*#4636#*#* and tried the whole radio switching thing. Doesn't work.

Restarted the connections. Nothing.

Factory reset the whole phone. Still nothing.

Chat with google service support, they say it must be problem with the carrier.

Contacted carrier, they say there's nothing wrong with my sim card.

After googling a couple of similar issues, they all fixed their problem by getting a replacement phone from google. Which sounds like a hardware failure to me.

One thread mentioned that a person got his signals back after accidentally dropping the phone from a considerable height. Which again, confirming that it might be hardware related.

I really want to get this phone working again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Update (01/11/2019)

Device model and carrier name in the screenshot.

The website says it should work. Is there something else i should know about?

Also, if it means anything, the sim card actually worked for a good couple of while before it stopped. I got strong signals, could make phone calls, etc. until suddenly it doesn't.

What's your take on it? Thanks
