I have searched the internet and tried all suggested resetting options to no avail. Have asked Garmin about it but the only reply was a suggestion to buy a new device. The minimum price there was $139.00 so I figure if there's a cheaper solution, I'd like to take it.

The hard reset does not work (holding in the powerbutton and pressing lower right corner). I have talked to Garmin support but they say its an file error in the installation of the software and cant/wont support since it is an older device.

Can a hard reset be done in another way? Eg. by disassembling the memory and erasing on a conputer?
