Garmin Forerunner 405: Next step after replacing battery and charger for dead 405?

I have not used my Garmin 405 for a couple years because it was dead. I got a new charging clip, and today finally soldered in a new battery, and it still does not power up or make any response. I have tried the soft reset by holding the buttons in for 10 seconds while hooked up to power and no response there either. Is there another step, or is my $250 watch just junk after its first year of use? Thanks!
