I have a GE side-by-side model GSE25GSHBCSS

Freezer actual temp on the screen is reading -9, no matter what. Fridge side works. As a result the evap fan doesn't go as hard as it should because the fridge thinks the freezer is too cold when really it's barely above fridge temp. This makes me think it's the freezer thermistor, so I removed it and tested it with a multimeter and it seems to be working fine. Showing 5 ohm at room temp and up to 14-15 ohm in ice water.

The freezer makes ice just fine, the evaporator fan is working fine, compressor is fine, refrigerant levels are fine. This makes me think there is a short in the freezer thermistor wiring somewhere which is reading infinite resistance and pinning that temp reading out at -9. In my mind could be two possibilities: the wiring to the board or the board itself.

I do notice a similar problem here, but beyond "drilling a hole and rewiring it" I'm lost.

Any ideas how to diagnose it further?
